1. An investigative case study at local hospital into the current reliability of blood pressure sphygmomanometers
Abstract Introduction Arterial Blood Pressure is a significant indicator of the current health condition of an individual. The correct detection of hypertension is essential, where this health problem is considered as one of the greatest health risks factors that affect the heart and circulatory system. This paper presents the importance of the application

2. Sphygmomanometers and thermometers as potential fomites of Staphylococcus haemolyticus: biofilm formation in the presence of antibiotics
BACKGROUND The association between Staphylococcus haemolyticus and severe nosocomial infections is increasing. However, the extent to which fomites contribute to the dissemination of this pathogen through patients and hospital wards remains unknown. OBJECTIVES In the present study, sphygmomanometers and thermometers were evaluated as potential fomites of

4. Familial predisposition to hypertension and the association between urinary sodium excretion and blood pressure in a population-based sample of young adults
The reasons for the inconsistent association between salt consumption and blood pressure levels observed in within-society surveys are not known. A total of 157 normotensive subjects aged 18 to 35 years, selected at random in a cross-sectional population-based survey, answered a structured questionnaire. They were classified as strongly predisposed to hypert

5. STUDY OF THE METROLOGICAL RELIABILITY OF SPHYGMOMANOMETERS / ESTUDO DA CONFIABILIDADE METROLÓGICA DE ESFIGMOMANÔMETROS

9. The results of the Campaign for evaluating sphygmomanometers accuracy and their physical conditions
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the sphygmomanometers calibration accuracy and the physical conditions of the cuff-bladder, bulb, pump, and valve. METHODS: Sixty hundred and forty five aneroid sphygmomanometers were evaluated, 521 used in private practice and 124 used in hospitals. Aneroid manometers were tested against a properly calibrated mercury manometer and wer

10. Clinical experience with use of ultrasound sphygmomanometer.
The performance of an ultrasound sphygmomanometer (Arteriosonde 1217) has been compared with that of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Hawksley sphygmomanometers. The Arteriosonde gave closely similar values of systolic blood pressure of the other instruments but diastolic blood pressure lay midway between phase 4 and phase 5 of the Koro

11. Field evaluation of the Copal UA-231 automatic sphygmomanometer.
Automated sphygmomanometers should be evaluated in field studies before being recommended for epidemiological use. In this study an automated sphygmomanometer, the Copal UA-231, was evaluated on the basis of duplicate blood pressure measurements, one with this machine and one with a Hawksley random zero machine, taken on 1536 participants in a health survey.

12. Agreement between the Takeda UA-731 automatic blood pressure measuring device and the manual mercury sphygmomanometer: an assessment under field conditions in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
STUDY OBJECTIVE: To assess agreement between two Takeda UA-731 automatic blood pressure measuring devices (referred to as machines A and B) and two manual mercury sphygmomanometers. DESIGN: A 'Y' connector attached each Takeda UA-731 to a manual mercury sphygmomanometer. Simultaneous measurements were made on adult subjects. SETTING: A population based cardi
