13. Arterial blood pressure of term newborns during the first week of life
The progressive behavior of the blood pressure of term newborns during the first week of life was assessed by the simultaneous use of oscillometric and Doppler methods. A total of 174 term neonates born at the Municipal Hospital Odilon Behrens in Belo Horizonte, from March 1996 to February 1997, were prospectively assessed. The oscillometric and Doppler ultr

14. Clinical experience with use of ultrasound sphygmomanometer.
The performance of an ultrasound sphygmomanometer (Arteriosonde 1217) has been compared with that of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Hawksley sphygmomanometers. The Arteriosonde gave closely similar values of systolic blood pressure of the other instruments but diastolic blood pressure lay midway between phase 4 and phase 5 of the Koro

18. The Dinamap 1846SX automated blood pressure recorder: comparison with the Hawksley random zero sphygmomanometer under field conditions.
STUDY OBJECTIVE--The aim was to compare the performance of the Dinamap 1846SX automated oscillometric blood pressure recorder with that of the Hawksley random zero sphygmomanometer during use under field study conditions. DESIGN--Two independent within subject measurement comparisons were made, one in adults and one in children, each conducted in three stage

19. Automatic measurement of blood pressure: evaluation of the Copal UA-231 automatic sphygmomanometer.
The suitability of an automatic sphygmomanometer for epidemiological work was evaluated in two studies. In the first, blood pressure measurements were made alternately on the automatic machine and on a Hawksley random zero instrument on 14 volunteers on each of four consecutive days by a single medical observer. No significant difference was found between th

20. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) in adults is proving to be useful. The aim of this study was to determine if ABPM is accurate in the lower blood pressure range encountered in children and, equally important, whether it is acceptable to children. Thirty one children, between the ages of 6 and 18 years, were assessed using an ambulatory blood press

21. Low blood pressure in psychiatric inpatients.
Blood pressure recordings in 116 female psychiatric inpatients were analysed. Sixty-nine women had schizophrenia, the remainder a variety of psychiatric conditions. All had been in hospital continuously for more than one year, the average for 19 years continuously. An average of seven recordings of blood pressure per patient had been made during that time. T

22. Field evaluation of the Copal UA-231 automatic sphygmomanometer.
Automated sphygmomanometers should be evaluated in field studies before being recommended for epidemiological use. In this study an automated sphygmomanometer, the Copal UA-231, was evaluated on the basis of duplicate blood pressure measurements, one with this machine and one with a Hawksley random zero machine, taken on 1536 participants in a health survey.

23. Agreement between the Takeda UA-731 automatic blood pressure measuring device and the manual mercury sphygmomanometer: an assessment under field conditions in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.
STUDY OBJECTIVE: To assess agreement between two Takeda UA-731 automatic blood pressure measuring devices (referred to as machines A and B) and two manual mercury sphygmomanometers. DESIGN: A 'Y' connector attached each Takeda UA-731 to a manual mercury sphygmomanometer. Simultaneous measurements were made on adult subjects. SETTING: A population based cardi

24. The Elag-Koln automatic blood pressure recorder. A clinical appraisal.
The performance of an Elag-Koln semiautomatic blood pressure recorder was compared with the London School of Hygiene mercury sphygmomanometer in 24 subjects providing a wide range of blood pressure measurements. Readings with the two instruments correlated highly (for systole, r=0-99; for diastole phase 4, r=0-97; for diastole phase 5,r=0-98), and the slopes
