5. Implementation of an Ethernet 10/100Mbps core with Avalon interface for Nios II processor from Altera / Implementação de um módulo Ethernet 10/100Mbps com interface Avalon para o processador Nios II da Altera
This work presents the implementation of a network Ethernet 10/100Mbps core with interfaces to Avalon bus for using with the Nios II processor from Altera. The Ethernet technology was implemented in reconfigurable computing and was based in the OpenCores MAC 10/100 available on Internet. The project was developed for embedded systems applications, more speci

7. SopB protein-mediated silencing of genes linked to the sopC locus of Escherichia coli F plasmid.
Expression of a high level of F-plasmid-encoded SopB protein in Escherichia coli is found to repress genes linked to sopC, a sequence element of F consisting of 12 tandemly joined imperfect repeats of a 43-bp motif. Repression of a gene can occur over a distance of at least 10 kb from the sopC element and is not affected by the relative orientation of sopC.

8. A single 43-bp sopC repeat of plasmid mini-F is sufficient to allow assembly of a functional nucleoprotein partition complex.
Stable maintenance of the low-copy-number mini-F plasmid in Escherichia coli is dependent on a functional partition system. The sop partition region encodes proteins SopA and SopB and a cis-acting element sopC, which contains multiple sites to which SopB binds. We have found that SopB protein acting at sopC in vivo is associated with a marked effect on plasm

9. Gene silencing via protein-mediated subcellular localization of DNA
We previously reported that overexpression of SopB, an Escherichia coli F plasmid-encoded partition protein, led to silencing of genes linked to, but well-separated from, a cluster of SopB-binding sites termed sopC. We show here that in this SopB-mediated repression of sopC-linked genes, all but the N-terminal 82 amino acids of SopB can be replaced by the DN

10. Partition of the Linear Plasmid N15: Interactions of N15 Partition Functions with the sop Locus of the F Plasmid
A locus close to one end of the linear N15 prophage closely resembles the sop operon which governs partition of the F plasmid; the promoter region contains similar operator sites, and the two putative gene products have extensive amino acid identity with the SopA and -B proteins of F. Our aim was to ascertain whether the N15 sop homologue functions in partit

11. Role of chirality in peptide-induced formation of cholesterol-rich domains
The chiral specificity of the interactions of peptides that induce the formation of cholesterol-rich domains has not been extensively investigated. Both the peptide and most lipids are chiral, so there is a possibility that interactions between peptide and lipid could require chiral recognition. On the other hand, in our models with small peptides, the exten

12. Localization of F plasmid SopB protein to positions near the poles of Escherichia coli cells
The subcellular localization of the SopB protein, which is encoded by the Escherichia coli F plasmid and is involved in the partition of the single-copy plasmid, was directly visualized through the expression of the protein fused to the jellyfish green fluorescent protein (GFP). The fusion protein, but not GFP itself, was found to localize to positions close
