13. Construction and demolition waste in concrete: property of pre-molded parts for paving
Abstract Construction and demolition waste (CDW) production is a growing factor on a global scale and its incorrect disposal becomes an increasingly common problem in cities. It is estimated to represent, on average, 50% of the urban solid waste mass in the world. In this sense, an alternative to the destination is their reuse. In this work, the properties o

14. Pyrethroid insecticide residue in ‘Grande Naine’ banana peel and pulp during maturation
Abstract In banana farming, the bagging of bunches with bags impregnated by pyrethroid insecticide is a practice that prevents damage to fruits caused by insect pests. The aim of this study was to monitor the presence and permanence of bifenthrin residue during the maturation of ‘Grande Naine’ banana by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometer in

15. Improving Nutrition Utilization and Meat Quality of Broiler Chickens Through Solid-State Fermentation of Agricultural By-Products by Aureobasidium Pullulans
ABSTRACT A 35 d trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation of co-fermented agricultural by-products, soybean hulls and Pleurotus eryngii stalk residue (PESR), with Aureobasidium pullulans on nutrients digestibility and meat quality in broilers fed on conventional corn-soybean meal basal diet. A total of 400 1-d-old Ross broilers w

16. Pre-Concentration and Separation of Perphenazine Using Picric Acid Loaded α-Fe2O3 Nanoparticles: HPLC Syringe Filter as the Particles Support
Suspension of picric acid (PA) loaded iron oxide nanoparticles (PA-IONPs) was injected on the top of a 0.2 µm HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) syringe filter. The immobilized nanoparticles were used as SPE (solid phase extraction) sorbent for perphenazine separation and pre-concentration. By passing perphenazine solution through the filter, a m

17. Fodder radish cake (Raphanus sativus L.) as an alternative biomass for the production of cellulases and xylanases in solid-state cultivation
Abstract Fodder radish (FR) is an oilseed crop with a high potential for biodiesel production due to its high productivity and the quality of its seed oil. FR oil extraction results in a residue that is rich in protein and fiber. In this study, FR cake (FRC) was evaluated as carbon and nitrogen source for the production of cellulases and xylanases using Peni

18. Milk quality parameters associated with the occurrence of veterinary drug residues in bulk tank milk
ABSTRACT Veterinary drug residues in bulk tank milk are important to all sectors of the dairy chain because they are one of the major factors which determine the safety of the final product. This study attempted to identify milk quality parameters that are associated with the occurrence of veterinary drug residues using multivariate principal component analy

19. Ocellatin peptides from the skin secretion of the South American frog Leptodactylus labyrinthicus (Leptodactylidae): characterization, antimicrobial activities and membrane interactions
Abstract Background The availability of antimicrobial peptides from several different natural sources has opened an avenue for the discovery of new biologically active molecules. To the best of our knowledge, only two peptides isolated from the frog Leptodactylus labyrinthicus, namely pentadactylin and ocellatin-F1, have shown antimicrobial activities. The

20. Solid-Liquid Extraction with Low Temperature Purification Coupled with Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry for Determination of Polychlorinated Biphenyls in Sewage Sludge
Sewage sludge is the residue produced by the wastewater treatment plants, which can be used as soil conditioner in agriculture. However, the current legislation recommends monitoring chemical contaminants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). In this study, solid-liquid extraction with low temperature purification (SLE-LTP) was optimized and validated fo

21. Utilization of residue from cassava starch processing for production of fermentable sugar by enzymatic hydrolysis
Abstract The aim of this study was to characterize and perform enzymatic hydrolysis of cassava peeling residue (peel and inner peel), mainly composed of peels and small pieces. Residue was sanitized, dried at 55 °C for 24 hours and ground. The obtained flour showed pH of 4.85; 72.53 g 100 g–1 moisture; 5.18 mL 1M NaOH 100 g–1 acidity; 60.68 g 100 g–1

22. Kinetic Analysis of the Decomposition of the KFe3(SO4)2-x(CrO4)x(OH)6 Jarosite Solid Solution in Ca(OH)2 Medium
The decomposition of the solid solution of potassium jarosite with chromium(VI) in Ca(OH)2 media was studied in the present work. According to experimental results, the incorporation of CrO42- into the crystal structure of jarosite resulted in a solid solution with the following approximate formula: [K0.86(H3O)0.14]Fe2.67[(SO4)1.23(CrO4)0.77][(OH)5.01(H2O)0.

23. Synthesis and Mechanical Characterization of Iron Oxide Rich Sulfobelite Cements Prepared Using Bauxite Residue
The bauxite residue (BR) is the solid waste of largest generation by the aluminum industry, with a generation estimated in 10 million ton/year in Brazil. Its high alkalinity demands elevated costs to store it safely. Due to the high content of Al2O3 and Fe2O3 in BR, the present study evaluated its application for the synthesis of iron rich sulfobelite clinke

24. COMPARISON BETWEEN ASPHALTENES (SUB)FRACTIONS EXTRACTED FROM TWO DIFFERENT ASPHALTIC RESIDUES: CHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION AND PHASE BEHAVIOR
Asphaltenes are blamed for various problems in the petroleum industry, especially formation of solid deposits and stabilization of water-in-oil emulsions. Many studies have been conducted to characterize chemical structures of asphaltenes and assess their phase behavior in crude oil or in model-systems of asphaltenes extracted from oil or asphaltic residues
