1. Activated carbon loaded with manganese and iron for glyphosate adsorption: Kinetics, isotherms and thermodynamic studies

2. Improved Functionalization of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes in Ultra-Low Acid Volume: Effect of Solid/Liquid Interface
A comprehensive study of a less harmful functionalization of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) was performed. The influence of ultrasonic cavitation and solid/liquid interface was indirectly evaluated by statistical characterization of MWCNT aspect ratio and degree of functionalization. MWCNT aspect ratio was determined through hundreds of electron micros

3. Phase-Field Simulation for Non-isothermal Solidification of Al-Cu Binary Alloy
Based on the principle of dilute solution approximation, a phase field model for dendritic growth during the non-isothermal solidification process was proposed by coupling the phase field, concentration field and temperature field, and was adopted to investigate the dendritic growth of Al-Cu binary alloy during the non-isothermal solidification process. Also

4. Sunlight-driven water splitting using hematite nanorod photoelectrodes
ABSTRACT The efficiency of nanostructures for photoelectrochemical water-splitting is fundamentally governed by the capability of the surface to sustain the reaction without electron trapping or recombination by photogenerated holes. This brief review will summarize the latest progress on hematite, designed with columnar morphology via chemical synthesis, fo

5. Confocal Fluorescence Microscopy and Kinetics of the Cr 3+-Chromate Ion Oxidation Equilibria at the Solid Liquid Interface
Silica-borax pearl samples impregnated with 0.17 and 0.64% Cr3+ were characterized by specific surface area measurements, UV-Vis spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence and laser-scanning confocal microscopy. Pearl stability against oxidizing conditions was tested by adding samples to an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution. The reaction was examine

6. Macrosegregation of Impurities in a Metallurgical Silicon Ingot After Transient Directional Solidification
Metallurgical grade silicon was melted and directionally solidified in transient conditions by extracting heat from the base of a cylindrical ingot and inserting heat at the ingot top. A heat-transfer mathematical model was implemented to predict the solidification velocity and temperature gradient using cooling curves measured directly in the silicon melt.

7. Reflection/refraction at the interface of an elastic solid and a partially saturated porous solid containing liquid filled bound pores and a connected pore space saturated by two-phase fluid
Abstract The phenomena of reflection and refraction of plane waves incident obliquely at a plane interface between uniform elastic solid half-space and porous solid containing liquid filled bound pores and two-phase fluid in connected pores has been analyzed. The amplitude ratios of the reflected and refracted waves to that of the incident wave are calculate

8. APARATO ELETROQUÍMICO PARA SISTEMA DE AQUISIÇÃO DE DADOS MULTICANAL COM RESOLUÇÃO ESPAÇO-TEMPORAL
Spatiotemporal pattern formation in reaction-transport systems takes place spontaneously when the system is kept far from thermodynamic equilibrium. Targets, reaction fronts, waves, spirals, spots and stripes are some typical examples of selforganized structuring. In electrochemical systems, monitoring spatiotemporal patterns of potential in the solid/liquid

9. Remoção de compostos fenólicos de soluções aquosas utilizando carvão ativado preparado a partir do aguapé (Eichhornia crassipes): estudo cinético e de equilíbrio termodinâmico
Activated carbon was produced from the water hyacinth (CAA) by impregnation with ZnCl2 (1:2), followed by pyrolysis at 700 ºC, under N2. CAA was used for the adsorption of phenol, m-cresol and o-cresol from aqueous solutions, using batch adsorption. The effects of contact time, pH, temperature and concentration on sorption were investigated. Adsorption capa

10. Study of reflection and transmission of plane waves at thermoelastic-diffusive solid/liquid interface
The paper concentrates on the study of reflection and transmission characteristics of waves at the interface of a thermoelastic-diffusive solid half-space underlying an inviscid liquid. The analytic expressions for amplitude ratios, reflection and transmission coefficients, in terms of incident angles and material parameters have been obtained for quasi-long

11. Welding of AA1050 aluminum with AISI 304 stainless steel by rotary friction welding process
Abstract: The purpose of this work was to assess the development of solid state joints of dissimilar material AA1050 aluminum and AISI 304 stainless steel, which can be used in pipes of tanks of liquid propellants and other components of the Satellite Launch Vehicle. The joints were obtained by rotary friction welding process (RFW), which combines the heat g

12. Interação da proteína albumina do soro bovino (BSA) com substratos sintéticos / Interaction of the protein bovine serum albumin (BSA) with synthetic substrates.
The interface formed by biological materials and synthetic materials has great importance in biomedical applications such as the development of biomaterials for medical implants, which has as an essential process of protein adsorption on the surface of biomaterials, and is not yet well understood in the molecular level. Some proteins undergo conformational c
