13. Estudo, modelagem e simulação de um inversor de comutação suave para aplicação em filtros ativos de potência monofásicos / A study, modeling and simulation of a soft-switched inverter for an AC single-phase active power filter
This work shows the study, the selection and the analysis of a soft-switched inverter for an ac single-phase active power filter. For this, various topologies of the soft-switched inverters are classified based upon the location of the auxiliary circuit and the topology that achieves the goals for application in the active power filter is selected. Three com

15. Duble forward converter with two main and auxiliary switches and soft switching / Conversor duplo Forward PWM a duas chaves principais e duas chaves auxiliares com comutação suave
Converting a constant voltage in another constant voltage is necessary in many technological applications, starting from charging a cell phone battery to feed a DC motor in industrial plants. This work presents one more way to convert a Constant voltage based on a new circuit topology. This topology has its embryo in the simplest step-down configuration, the

18. Analysis, design and implementation of inverter topologies using the McMurray topology / Análise, projeto e concepção de estruturas inversoras utilizando a topologia McMurray
This work fulfills the study of a single-phase full bridge converter, including operating principles and relevant expressions for the design of a prototype. In order to obtain nearly sinusoidal output voltage with reduced total harmonic distortion, a modified modulation technique is applied to the converter. Three possible configurations operating at high fr

22. Soft capacity modeling for WCDMA radio resource management
This work addresses wireless capacity models and capacity consumption models for 3G WCDMA system analysis. Uplink and downlink capacities are viewed as multiple heterogeneous circuit-switched and packet-switched pools of various bit rate channels, wherein traffic channels and control channels contend for the same capacity within a cell. An individual user's

23. Nonlinear dynamic modeling of multicomponent batch distillation: a case study
The aim of this work is to compare several of the commercial dynamic models for batch distillation available worldwide. In this context, BATCHFRAC™, CHEMCAD™ BATCH, and HYSYS.Plant® software performances are compared to experimental data. The software can be used as soft sensors, playing the roll of ad-hoc observers or estimators for control objectives.

24. Soft X-ray tomography of phenotypic switching and the cellular response to antifungal peptoids in Candida albicans
The opportunistic pathogen Candida albicans can undergo phenotypic switching between a benign, unicellular phenotype and an invasive, multicellular form that causes candidiasis. Increasingly, strains of Candida are becoming resistant to antifungal drugs, making the treatment of candidiasis difficult, especially in immunocompromised or critically ill patients
