Detection and classification of short duration voltage variations in power distribution systems using artificial neural networks.

2. Dynamic response of three-phase induction motors to voltage sags in the power supply network / Resposta dinâmica dos motores de indução trifásicos a afundamentos de tensão na rede de alimentação
This research shows a study on the dynamic response of three-phase induction motors submitted to voltage sags. Computer simulations about a distribution system, as well as the modeling of three-phase induction motors based on actual data, were made using ATP (Alternative Transients Program) software. These simulations intended to generate representative situ

Detection of events for monitoring the quality of billing electronic meters by using Wavelet Transform and the Instantaneous Euclidian Norm.
This work shows the possibility to add new functions for detection and registration of disturbances that affect power quality to electronic billing meters. The widespread installation of these meters in the power network makes this resource a powerful analysis tool. Remote communication channels in these meters create an easy way for reading and registering

The interconnected operation of large electrical systems and the fast spreading of the electrical sector with an increasing presence of sensitive loads to supply voltage disturbances demanded that the current laws to adapt to consumer needs, for example, to ensure the maintenance of constant voltage levels throughout the feeders of the electrical power distr

Nowadays, national and international electric utilities and end users are becoming more and more concerned about the quality of the electrical power. Such concerns are related with the occurrence of electric disturbances capable to effect the operation and the life expectance of equipments and devices, as well as affecting and interrupting varied industrial

7. Use-dependent reduction and facilitation of Ca2+ current in guinea-pig myocytes.
1. Action potentials, calcium currents (iCa) and cell contraction have been recorded from single guinea-pig myocytes during periods of stimulation from rest. Voltage clamp was carried out using a single microelectrode. Cell contraction was measured optically. All experiments were performed at 18-22 degrees C. 2. An inverse relationship was observed between c

8. Variations in blood flow on mandibular glandular secretion to autonomic nervous stimulations in anaesthetized dogs.
1. Continuous stimulation of the preganglionic parasympathetic nerve (the ramus communicans of the mandibular ganglion) for 1-2 min at supramaximal voltage (5 V) and pulse duration (1 ms) increased salivary gland arterial inflow and this was accompanied by copious salivary secretion. The responses were recorded continuously during the period of stimulation.

9. Relationship of firing intervals of human motor units to the trajectory of post-spike after-hyperpolarization and synaptic noise.
1. Interspike interval distributions from human motor units of a variety of muscles were analysed to assess the role of synaptic noise in excitation. The time course of the underlying post-spike after-hyperpolarization (AHP) was deduced by applying a specially developed transform to the interval data. Different firing rates were studied both by varying the f
