1. Ultrastructure of the antennal sensilla of Alabama argillacea (Hübner, 1823) (Lepidoptera: Erebidae)
Abstract Insects have several types of sensilla, the characterization of which has been fundamental to understanding the mechanisms of sensory perception in different species. This study aimed to describe the ultrastructure of the sensilla present on the antennae of Alabama argillacea (Hübner, 1823) (Lepidoptera: Erebidae), an important pest of cotton (Goss

2. Aspects of mating behavior and antennal sensilla in Anomala inconstans Burmeister, 1844 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Rutelinae)
No presente trabalho o c

4. A new genus and species of Lasiopteridi (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) on Haplopappus foliosus (Asteraceae) from Chile
ABSTRACT A new genus and species of gall midge, Haplopappusmyia gregaria, is described and illustrated (larva, pupa, male, and female). This species induces apical galls on Haplopappus foliosus (Asteraceae), an endemic shrub from central Chile. The specimens were collected at La Ligua Municipality, Petorca Province, Valparaiso region, Chile, during spring of

5. A new Brazilian species of Isotomiella (Collembola: Isotomidae) from the state of Pará, Brazil
ABSTRACT A new species of Isotomiella from Pará State is described and illustrated. This new species belongs to the digitata group, but differs from other by the number of chaetae on manubrium and dens, teeth on the tenaculum and size of the sensilla on abdominal tergites V-VI.

6. Morphology, distribution and abundance of antennal sensilla of the oyster mushroom fly, Coboldia fuscipes (Meigen) (Diptera: Scatopsidae)
ABSTRACT We investigated the distribution, morphology and abundance of antennae sensilla of Coboldia fuscipes (Meigen) using scanning electron microscopy. Antennae of C. fuscipes consisted of scape, pedicel, and flagellum with eight flagellomeres. Antennal scape and pedicel had only one type of sensillum, i.e., sensilla chaetica. Significant differences were

7. Behavioural responses to human skin extracts and antennal phenotypes of sylvatic first filial generation and long rearing laboratory colony Rhodnius prolixus
Chagas disease is a major public health issue and is mainly spread by Triatominae insects (Hemiptera: Reduviidae). Rhodnius prolixus is the main vector species in Northern South America. Host-seeking behaviour in R. prolixus is mediated by different compounds that are produced by and emanate from the host or microbiota on the host's skin. We tested the behav

8. Morphometry and distribution of sensilla on the antennae of Anastrepha fraterculus (Wiedemann) (Diptera: Tephritidae)
Antennal sensilla of Anastrepha fraterculus (Wied.) were examined using scanning electron microscopy. In the flagellum, there are trichoid, basiconic, clavate type I and II, and styloconic sensilla and microtrichia. Only microtrichiae and chaetica sensilla were observed in the scape and pedicel. The number of sensilla in the flagellum was similar between sex

9. Sexual dimorphism in antennal receptors of Phyllophaga ravida Blanchard (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea: Melolonthidae)
The external morphology of sensilla on the antennae of males and females of Phyllophaga ravida Blanchard is described using scanning electron microscopy. Sexual dimorphism in body and antennal dimensions and in antennal receptor types was found. The female's body is slightly larger than the male's, although male antennal lamellae are longer than in females.

10. Sensilas antenais de Anastrepha fraterculus (Diptera, Tephritidae) e respostas a voláteis de frutiferas, substâncias sintéticas e a produtos fitossanitários utilizados na produção de orgânica / Antennal sensilla of Anastrepha fraterculus (diptera, tephritidae) and responses to fruit volatiles, synthetic compounds and phytosanitary products used in organic production

11. The antennal sensilla of phlebotomine vectors of leishmaniasis / As sensilas antenais de flebotomíneos vetores de leishmanioses

A comparative study of antennal sensilla in bees
Sensilla are the basic structures of environmental cues perception, which play a role as mechanoreceptor, chemoreceptor, thermoreceptor and hygroreceptor associated with their morphology. Because bees have different sociability degree and foraging habits, they are an interesting model in studies about sensilla types and distribution associated with behavior.
