13. New occurrences of Botryosphaeriaceae causing black root rot of cassava in Brazil
Despite the occurrence of several diseases of cassava, the cassava black root rot (CBR) represents one of the main limiting factor for crop rentability in the world. However, the etiology of CBR is complex and it needs to be revised based on current molecular analysis. On this work, molecular and morphological studies allowed for the identification of three

14. Impact of water potential on growth and germination of Fusarium solani soilborne pathogen of peanut
Studies were conducted to determine the effect of osmotic and matric stress on germination and growth of two Fusarium solani strains, the etiological agent responsible of peanut brown root rot. Both strains had similar osmotic and matric potential ranges that allowed growth, being the latter one narrower. F. solani showed the ability to grow down to -14 MPa

15. Fitness components of Monosporascus cannonballus isolates from northeastern Brazilian melon fields
Monosporascus root rot and vine decline caused by Monosporascus cannonballus is one of the most important melon yield-limiting diseases in northeastern Brazil. This study investigated the fitness components of 57 isolates of M. cannonballus obtained from Brazilian melon fields by evaluating: i) their mycelial growth rate (MGR), and perithecia and ascospore p

17. A new species of Calonectria causing leaf blight and cutting rot of three forest tree species in Brazil
Several species of Calonectria cause diseases on a wide range of forest tree species that are propagated either via seedlings or rooted cuttings. In nurseries these fungi cause damping-off, cutting and root rots, stem lesions, and leaf blights. Recently a Calonectria sp. was isolated from rooted cuttings of Anadenanthera peregrina (Fabaceae), Piptadenia gono

18. Temporal analysis of charcoal root rot in forest nurseries under different pathogen inoculum densities and soil moisture content
The progress of charcoal root rot (CRR) disease in Pinus radiata seedlings caused by Macrophomina phaseolina was evaluated in greenhouse and field trials. In one greenhouse trial P. radiata was sown in a sandy soil with pathogen inoculum densities (ID) ranging from 25 to 1000 cfu.g-1. After two months, the seedlings were established under three soil moisture

19. Chlamydospore concentration for assessment of Fusarium root rot on common bean
Fusarium root rot caused by Fusarium solani f. sp. phaseoli (Fsp) is widely distributed in Latin America. Experiments involving artificial inoculations could be better compared whether the number of Fsp infective propagules is well quantified by using chlamydospores. This study aimed to define the adequate concentration of chlamydospores of Fsp for assessmen

20. Herança da resistência da soja à podridão radicular de fitóftora, em variedades comerciais brasileiras
The phytophthora root rot (PRR), caused by Phytophthora sojae (Kaufman &Gerdman), is one of the most destructive soybean diseases and can provoke yield losses of up to 100%. PRR has occurred more frequently in Brazil since the season 2005/06, mainly in the South region. There are some resistant commercial varieties but their inheritance remains unknown. All

21. Resistance of advanced common bean lines to Fusarium root rot
Fusarium root rot (FRR) is a distributed disease of common beans in Brazil. Our main aim was to verify if there are genotypes, mainly advanced lines from the common bean breeding program with levels of resistance to FRR similar to those of the line A-300. We also compared three developmental stages for FRR assessment. Genotypes of six classes were evaluated

22. Performance de diferentes métodos de instrumentação radicular em dentes decíduos humanos e artificiais avaliado pela tomografia computadorizada por feixe cônico / Performance of different methods of root canal instrumentation in natural and artificial primary teeth evaluated by cone beam computed tomography

23. Etiology and epidemiology of Pythium root rot in hydroponic crops: current knowledge and perspectives.
The etiology and epidemiology of Pythium root rot in hydroponically-grown crops are reviewed with emphasis on knowledge and concepts considered important for managing the disease in commercial greenhouses. Pythium root rot continually threatens the productivity of numerous kinds of crops in hydroponic systems around the world including cucumber, tomato, swee
