1. Abundance of the reef-building Petaloconchus varians (Gastropoda: Vermetidae) on intertidal rocky shores at Ilha Grande Bay, southeastern Brazil
ABSTRACT The reef-building vermetid Petaloconchus varians occurs in the western Atlantic Ocean, from the Caribbean Sea to the southern coast of Brazil. The present study evaluated the abundance of P. varians on intertidal rocky shores in Ilha Grande Bay (Rio de Janeiro State), and characterized their reefs, describing the species density, besides the weight

2. The reproductive biology of Pinguipes brasilianus Cuvier, 1829 (Osteichthyes: Pinguipedidae) in temperate rocky reefs of Argentina
ABSTRACT Pinguipes brasilianus is a conspicuous and abundant rocky-reef fish inhabiting the Northern Patagonian gulfs of Argentina, Southwest Atlantic. This study describes its reproductive biology in this region. We made macroscopic and histological descriptions of the testis and ovary development, analyzed the evolution of the gonadosomatic index (GSI) in

3. The structure of rocky reef fish assemblages across a nearshore to coastal islands' gradient in Southeastern Brazil

4. Dynamics of fish assemblages on a continuous rocky reef and adjacent unconsolidated habitats at Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, tropical western Atlantic

5. Atol das Rocas: an oasis for Octopus insularis juveniles (Cephalopoda: Octopodidae)
The habitat, population density, distribution and diet of Octopus insularis Leite & Haimovici, 2008 were studied in the Atol das Rocas Biological Reserve, based on visual census carried out in fixed quadrants. For each octopus den, we collected data on octopus size, substrate, type of den, and food remains around it. A total of 100 octopus dens were found wi

6. Influência da composição de substrato do recife na atividade e distribuição de peixes zoobentívoros no arquipélago de Fernando de Noronha, Pernambuco / The influence of substratum composition on the activity and distribution of benthic carnivorous reef fishes of the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago
Reefs provide shelter and food for several fish species and, thus, there may be a correlation between the abundance and behaviour of fishes and the reef bottom composition-Physical factors, such as water movement and depth, may also have a profound impact in species distribuiton and activity on reefs. Here, the possible relationship between the distribution

7. Composição e estrutura da comunidade de peixes recifais em relação a quatro variáveis ambientais no Parque Estadual Marinho da Laje de Santos, Estado de São Paulo / Composition and structure of reef fish community structure in relation to four environmental variables in the Marine State Park of slab Santos, Sao Paulo State

The objective of this study was recognize the actual phisiographic and sedimentologic features of the continental shelf adjacent to TamandarÃ-PE, located in the APA Costa dos Corais through a sonographic mapping. Twenty bathimetric and sonographic profiles had been generated using a Sea Scan PC side scan sonar and an echosounder GARMIN GPSMAP 185 Sounder.
