13. Treatment of Chronic Atrial Fibrillation During Surgery for Rheumatic Mitral Valve Disease
Abstract Introduction: The result of surgical ablation of atrial fibrillation remains controversial, although prospective and randomized studies have shown significant differences in the return to sinus rhythm in patients treated with ablation versus control group. Surgery of the Labyrinth, proposed by Cox and colleagues, is complex and increases the morbid

14. The Mid-Term Results of Patients who Underwent Radiofrequency Atrial Fibrillation Ablation Together with Mitral Valve Surgery
Abstract Objetive: Saline-irrigated radiofrequency ablation, which has been widely used for surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation in recent years, is 80-90% successful in achieving sinus rhythm. In our study, our surgical experience and mid-term results in patients who underwent mitral valve surgery and left atrial radiofrequency ablation were analyzed.

16. RepercussÃes Maternas e Perinatais de Gestantes com Cardiopatias em Hospital TerciÃrio no Cearà / Maternal and Perinatal Implications of Pregnant Women with Heart Disease in a Tertiary Hospital in CearÃ

17. Avaliação da microbiota bucal em pacientes sob uso crônico de penicilina G benzatina / Evaluation of oral microbiota in patients on chronic use of benzathine penicillin

19. Bartonella native valve endocarditis: the first brazilian case alive and well
Bartonella is an important cause of blood culture-negative endocarditis in recent studies. Seroprevalence studies in the States of Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro have shown Bartonella IgG positivity around 14% in healthy adults and 40% in HIV seropositive adults, respectively. A case report of a 46-year-old white male with moderate aortic regurgitation (AR)

20. Maternal-fetal monitoring of patients with rheumatic heart disease during dental procedure under local anesthesia / Monitorização materno-fetal da portadora de doença valvar reumática durante procedimento odontológico sob anestesia local
During pregnancy, the organic systems of a woman are subjected to physiological modifications consequential to hormonal, anatomic and metabolical alterations. The most significant modification in the circulatory system is an increased cardiac output from the first three months of gestation. Women with heart disease may present with severe complications durin

21. "Determinação de alvos antigênicos na doença reumática cardíaca utilizando phage display" / Identification of molecular markers involved in the pathogenesis of rheumatic heart disease by phage display
Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) patients develop valvar lesions with CD4+ T lymphocytes infiltrating the heart. Molecular mimicry between streptococcal and cardiac proteins recognized by these T cells may explain these auto-aggressive lesions. In the present work we used a Phage Display peptide library to identify cardiac antigens which could be recognized by

The effect of rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease in the children and teenagers lives: The idea between feeling healthy and feeling sick."

Despite the French term "acute joint rheumatism" emphasizing the involvement of the joints, it is heart attacks that are the major cause of morbidity and mortality in rheumatic disease. Rheumatic carditis, the only manifestation of the disease that can be lethal in its acute phase and produce permanent sequelae, continues to be quite prevalent in economicall

24. Atrial activation during sinus rhythm in patients with rheumatic and non-rheumatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Frequency-domain analysis using signal-averaged electrocardiography
OBJECTIVE: Using P-wave signal-averaged electrocardiography, we assessed the patterns of atrial electrical activation in patients with idiopathic atrial fibrillation as compared with patterns in patients with atrial fibrillation associated with structural heart disease. METHODS: Eighty patients with recurrent paroxysmal atrial fibrillation were divided into
