1. Intra- and interobserver agreement of histopathological findings in pediatric patients with eosinophilic esophagitis
Abstract Objective: To assess intra- and interobserver agreement among non-expert pathologists in identifying features of the eosinophilic esophagitis histologic scoring system (EoEHSS) in pediatric patients. Patients and methods: The authors used 50 slides from patients (aged 1-15 years; 72% male) with EoE. EoEHSS evaluates eosinophilic inflammation and o

2. A Novel In Silico Monte Carlo Approach to Optimize a PSD Estimation Problem. Generation of Data Fusion Experiment Rules
ABSTRACT This article analyzes the performance of combining information from Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) micrographs with Static Light Scattering (SLS) measurements for retrieving the so-called Particle Size Distribution (PSD) in terms of experimental features. The corresponding data fusion is implemented using a novel Monte Carlo-based method consist

3. Estimating soybean crop areas using spectral-temporal surfaces derived from MODIS images in Mato Grosso, Brazil.
Abstract ? The objective of this work was to evaluate the application of the spectral-temporal response surface (STRS) classification method on Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS, 250 m) sensor images in order to estimate soybean areas in Mato Grosso state, Brazil. The classification was carried out using the maximum likelihood algorithm (M

4. Mycorrhizal diversity in Coppensia doniana (Orchidaceae) and phylogeny of mycorrhizal fungi associated with the Oncidiinae subtribe / Diversidade micorrízica em Coppensia doniana (Orchidaceae) e filogenia de fungos micorrízicos associados à subtribo Oncidiinae
In nature, orchids are fully dependent on mycorrhizal fungi for germination. These fungi can penetrate root cells and form pelotons, whose digestion provides simple sugars for the embryo. During the achlorophyllous seedling stage, orchids are obligatory dependent on the fungi, and some species remain so through life, while others become facultatively respons

5. Estudo experimental comparativo entre as telas de polipropileno, polipropileno+poliglactina e polipropileno+titânio: citocinas pró-inflamatórias, reação inflamatória tecidual e deposição do colágeno. / Comparing the behavior of polypropylene, polypropylene+poliglactin and polypropylene+titanium meshes in rat: inflammatory cytokines, tissue alterations and collagen deposition.
Purpose: Incisional hernia occurs in approximately 11% of all laparotomies. Changes in collagen have been closely implicated in its pathogenesis. The high recurrence rate (45 to 54%) after primary suture has stimulated the development of meshes. Currently, meshes are the biomaterials implant group most used in medicine. This study aims to compare the serum a

6. Optimization in design parameters of mechanical systems using multi-objective genetic algorithm / Otimização de parametros de projeto de sistemas mecanicos atraves de algoritmo genetico multi-objetivos
The mechanical systems are designed to be applied to any specific situations, and in this waytheir features should be measured to guarantee confidence to the systems. Their development and analysis expose the designer to a series of unknown parameters from several sources such as material properties, environmental and operational conditions. In terms of math

9. Comparação de tecnicas de analise de risco aplicadas ao desenvolvimento de campos de petroleo / Comparison of tecniques for risk analysis applied to petroleum field development
Petroleum field decision-making process is associated to high risks due to geological, economic and technological uncertainties, and high investments, mainly in the appraisal and development phases of petroleum fields where it is necessary to model the recovery process with higher precision increasing the computational time. One way to speedup the process is

10. Slip complexity in earthquake fault models.
We summarize studies of earthquake fault models that give rise to slip complexities like those in natural earthquakes. For models of smooth faults between elastically deformable continua, it is critical that the friction laws involve a characteristic distance for slip weakening or evolution of surface state. That results in a finite nucleation size, or coher
