2. Changes in late-latency auditory evoked potentials after tinnitus suppression using auditory stimulation
Abstract Objective: Tinnitus can result from auditory system reorganization due to neural activity dysfunctions. Auditory stimulation can cause temporary or persistent tinnitus alleviation by altering the neural generators. The present study investigated the changes in Late-Latency Auditory Evoked Potentials (LLAEPs) after tinnitus suppression using auditor

3. Hemodynamic outcome of different ventilation modes in laparoscopic surgery with exaggerated trendelenburg: a randomised controlled trial
Abstract Purpose: To compare hemodynamic effects of two different modes of ventilation (volumecontrolled and pressure-controlled volume guaranteed) in patients undergoing laparoscopic gynecology surgeries with exaggerated Trendelenburg position. Methods: Thirty patients undergoing laparoscopic gynecology operations were ventilated using either volume-contr

4. The Endoscopic Anatomy of the External Acoustic Meatus and of the Middle Ear in Dry Temporal Bones: A Study Conducted Using Digital and Mobile Device Technology
Abstract Introduction The endoscopic anatomy of the middle ear (ME) and of the external acoustic meatus (EAM) has been described in cadavers, in fresh temporal bones, or in vivo using conventional video recording, but not in dry bones or using an alternative inspection and recording technique. Objective To study the anatomy of the ME and of the EAM in dry

5. Effect of Kangaroo Position on microcirculation of preterm newborns: a controlled randomized clinical trial
Abstract Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of Kangaroo Position (KP) in microcirculation (MC) of the flexor muscles of preterm newborns. Method: A controlled clinical trial was conducted in the city of Recife, Brazil, with 26 preterm children randomized in the Kangaroo Group (13) and in the Control Group (13). Assessments of

6. Recording cutaneous silent period parameters in hereditary and acquired neuropathies

7. Effectiveness of galvanic vestibular evoked myogenic potential for evaluation of Meniere’s disease
Abstract Objectives: Although the cause of Meniere’s disease (MD) is not fully understood, endolymphatic hydrops is widely believed to be responsible for MD. Previous studies have used Air-Conducted Sound (ACS)-induced Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMPs) to evaluate otolithic function in patients with MD. However, the use of Galvanic Vestibular

8. Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions (DPOAEs) In Tinnitus Patients
Abstract Introduction Tinnitus is the perception of sound in the absence of external sound stimulation. There is a general agreement that it is a direct consequence of irreversible and permanent cochlear damage. Objectives The present work is designed to study the distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) in tinnitus patients with normal hearing in

9. Percutaneous tracheostomy in COVID-19 patients: a new apneic approach
Abstract Background: Percutaneous dilation tracheostomy is an aerosol-generating procedure carrying a documented infectious risk during respiratory virus pandemics. For this reason, during the COVID-19 outbreak, surgical tracheostomy was preferred to the percutaneous one, despite the technique related complications increased risk. Methods: We describe a ne

10. Prevalence of Atrial Fibrillation in Pacemaker Patients
Abstract Background: Current pacemakers allow for the continuous recording of the occurrence of arrhythmic events. One of the most frequent arrhythmias after implantation of a device is atrial fibrillation (AF), an important risk factor for embolic events. The frequency of this arrhythmia in pacemaker patients has not been widely studied. Objectives: This

11. Indigo Carmine Hemodynamic Studies to Treat Vasoplegia Induced by Compound 48/80 in a Swine Model of Anaphylaxis
Abstract Introduction: There are many reasons to believe that the nitric oxide/guanosine 3’5’ - cyclic monophosphate (or NO/cGMP) pathway on vasoplegic states is underestimated. To study indigo carmine (IC) as an alternative to methylene blue was the investigation rationale. Methods: The IC (3mg/kg intravenous infusion) study protocol included five exp

12. Reliability of Contralateral Suppression in Evoked Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions
Abstract Introduction Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) and their suppression may be considered useful in monitoring cochlear function and the efferent auditory pathway inhibitory effect. Nonetheless, the establishment of reliable parameters of response variations is of great importance. Objectives To verify the replicability of test and ret
