4. Unified comprehension of the kinetics of isothermal ceramic processes under field-free and resonant wave-field conditions
Abstract This paper proposes a unified comprehension of the isothermal ceramic process kinetics stemming from mesoscopic irreversible thermodynamics. Accordingly, a unified process kinetic equation (UPKE) is derived, which predicts that the global isothermal process rate of any ceramic process is, in general, nonlinearly related both to its activation energy

5. Recent Developments on the Elucidation of Colloidal Aspects of Asphaltenes and Their Relevance to Oilfield Problems
Asphaltenes constitute the heavy petroleum fraction responsible for deposition events that may lead to reduced oil production, therefore of great interest for flow assurance. These molecules self-assemble in solutions leading to formation of aggregates that eventually grow towards precipitation and blockages in reservoirs and pipelines. Based on the Yen-Mull

6. BDD-Electrolysis of Oxalic Acid in Diluted Acidic Solutions
Boron doped diamond films (BDD) are the most studied electrocatalytic materials and their efficiency for removing organic compounds is attributed to their ability to produce a large amount of hydroxyl radicals by the electrolysis of water. However, some organic compounds are easy to degrade than others, as well as they also interact with BDD surface. Thus, i

7. Caracterización de soldaduras cuproaluminotérmica en cañerías de conducción para la protección catódica
ABSTRACT Copper-Aluminothermic weld is a process in which welder is generated by thermofusion. The necessary heat is obtained by the aluminum reducing effect above copper oxide, creating a high temperature exothermic reaction, in which melt and overheated copper is the filler material [1].This technique is used to joint rails in railway industry, in groundin

8. Efficient numerical method for solution of boundary value problems with additional conditions
Abstract An efficient numerical method for solution of boundary value problems with additional condition is presented. The approach is based on the shooting method but the procedure of seeking “the proper shot” allows one to satisfy “additional” boundary conditions. General considerations are illustrated by a real example. The computational example c

9. Kinetic Analysis of the Decomposition of the KFe3(SO4)2-x(CrO4)x(OH)6 Jarosite Solid Solution in Ca(OH)2 Medium
The decomposition of the solid solution of potassium jarosite with chromium(VI) in Ca(OH)2 media was studied in the present work. According to experimental results, the incorporation of CrO42- into the crystal structure of jarosite resulted in a solid solution with the following approximate formula: [K0.86(H3O)0.14]Fe2.67[(SO4)1.23(CrO4)0.77][(OH)5.01(H2O)0.

10. LEACHING OF MALACHITE ORE IN AMMONIUM SULFATE SOLUTIONS AND PRODUCTION OF COPPER OXIDE
Abstract Malachite ore is one of the most important of oxidized copper ores. Copper production can be performed by using this ore. In this work, the leaching kinetics of malachite in ammonium sulfate solutions was investigated, and metallic copper was recovered by a cementation method from the resulting actual leach solution. Copper (II) oxide was prepared b

11. Lentiviral-mediated RNAi targeting caspase-3 inhibits apoptosis induced by serum deprivation in rat endplate chondrocytes in vitro
Current studies find that degenerated cartilage endplates (CEP) of vertebrae, with fewer diffusion areas, decrease nutrient supply and accelerate intervertebral disc degeneration. Many more apoptotic cells have been identified in degenerated than in normal endplates, and may be responsible for the degenerated grade. Previous findings suggest that inhibition

12. High performance maleated lignocellulose epicarp fibers for copper ion removal
Natural lignocellulosic fiber epicarp extracted from the babassu coconut (Orbignya speciosa) was chemically modified through reaction with molten maleic anhydride without solvent, with incorporation of 189.34 mg g-1 of carboxylic acid groups into the biopolymer structure. The success of this reaction was also confirmed by the presence of carboxylic acid band
