27. Parasitic Arthropods and helminths from Cavia aperea Exerleben, 1777 (Rodentia: Caviidae) in southern Brazil / Artrópodes e helmintos parasitos de Cavia aperea Exerleben, 1777 (Rodentia: Caviidae) no sul do Brasil

28. Corte intra e interespecífica em cobaias (Cavia porcellus) e preás (Cavia aperea) / Intra and interspecific courtship in cavies (Cavia porcellus) and wild cavies (Cavia aperea)

Acoustic aspects of domestication: vocal signals of alarm and courtship in wild and domestic cavies.

31. Localization of the putative precursor of Alzheimer's disease-specific amyloid at nuclear envelopes of adult human muscle.
Cloning and sequence analysis revealed the putative amyloid A4 precursor (pre-A4) of Alzheimer's disease to have characteristics of a membrane-spanning glycoprotein. In addition to brain, pre-A4 mRNA was found in adult human muscle and other tissues. We demonstrate by in situ hybridization that pre-A4 mRNA is present in adult human muscle, in cultured human

32. Role of Pre-A Motif in Nitric Oxide Scavenging by Truncated Hemoglobin, HbN, of Mycobacterium tuberculosis*S⃞
Mycobacterium tuberculosis truncated hemoglobin, HbN, is endowed with a potent nitric-oxide dioxygenase activity and has been found to relieve nitrosative stress and enhance in vivo survival of a heterologous host, Salmonella enterica Typhimurium, within the macrophages. These findings implicate involvement of HbN in the defense of M. tuberculosis again

33. In vitro synthesis of rat fibrinogen: identification of preA alpha, preB beta, and pre gamma polypeptides.
Vertebrate fibrinogen consists of two sets of three nonidentical polypeptides that are synthesized in the liver. The subunits of fibrinogen have been synthesized in a cell-free, membrane-free translation system and compared with (alpha), polypeptides of fibrinogen purified from rat plasma and (b) subunits synthesized and secreted by hepatoma cells grown in c

35. The PreA4(695) precursor protein of Alzheimer's disease A4 amyloid is encoded by 16 exons.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the cerebral deposition of fibrillar aggregates of the amyloid A4 protein. Complementary DNA's coding for the precursor of the amyloid A4 protein have been described. In order to identify the structure of the precursor gene relevant clones from several human genomic libraries were isolated. Sequence analysis of th

36. Processing of the Encephalomyocarditis Virus Capsid Precursor Protein Studies in Rabbit Reticulocyte Lysates Incubated with N-Formyl-[35S]Methionine-tRNAfMet
Translation of encephalomyocarditis virus RNA in rabbit reticulocyte lysates in the presence of N-formyl-[35S]methionine-tRNAfMet revealed that a small polypeptide is cleaved from the N-terminus of the capsid protein precursor, preA, by virus-coded protease activity. Therefore, this N-terminal segment comprising the translation initiation site is not conserv
