1. LEWIS ACID SITES OF Mg2+-MODIFIED POLYSTYRENE SULFONIC ACID RESIN CATALYSYS FOR SYNTHESIS OF DIBUTYL SUCCINATE
The polystyrene sulfonic acid resin catalysts were fabricated, containing elements of Cl and Mg through oxidization and impregnation, and they were characterized by EDS, FT-IR spectra, Py-IR spectra, UV spectra, XPS and TGA to investigate their physiochemical properties. The catalytic performances of these catalysts were examined in the esterification reacti

2. Aplicação de novos materiais em transistores de efeito de campo ferroelétricos
In this work, we investigated the electrical properties of the polyelectrolyte PSS in its sodium form (PSS-Na, Polystyrene sulfonic in the sodium form) and acid form (PSS-H, polystyrene sulfonic in the acid form) and also doped with Fe3+ for application in Ferroelectric Field Effect Transistors (Fe-FET). The PSS-Na was acquired from Aldrich and PSS-H was obt

3. Desenvolvimento de uma metodologia de fabricação de transistores de filmes finos orgânicos. / Development of a manufacturing methodology for organic thin film transistors.
In this work, it is presented a methodology for organic thin-film transistor (OTFT) fabrication. Poly(3-hexylthyophene) (P3HT):[6,6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acidmethyl ester (PCBM) bulk heterojunction solar cells were studied for their maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) around 5 %. Efficiencies evolution in time from 10-6 to 1.7 % show the difficulties inv

4. Blendas de polianilina e poliestireno obtidas por processamento reativo : preparação e caracterização
One of the major current objectives in the research of intrinsically conducting polymers (PIC) is the production of blends, which combine the processing properties of common thermoplastic polymers with the conductivity of conducting polymers. The main problem in applying PIC in large scale in the plastic industry has been the infusibility of these polymers,

5. Attachment of the Yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides Is Mediated by Adhesives Localized at Sites of Bud Cell Development
The basidiomycetous yeast Rhodosporidium toruloides (anamorph, Rhodotorula glutinis) is a common phylloplane epiphyte with biocontrol potential. To understand how R. toruloides adheres to plant surfaces, we obtained nonadherent fungal mutants after chemical mutagenesis with methane-sulfonic acid ethyl ester. Sixteen attachment-minus (Att−) mutants were ide

6. The purification and partial characterization of an insulin-like protein from human serum.
A preparative scheme has been developed for the purification of a trace protein in human serum exhibiting nonsuppressible insulin-like activity (NSILA). This scheme consisted of (a) adsorption chromatography of serum utilizing the sulfonic acid polystyrene resin, Dowex 50, at pH 6.8; (b) (200 gel filtration at pH 8.9; and (c) acrylamide gel electrophoresis i

7. A class capture enzyme immunoassay for immunoglobulin level determinations in bovine sera.
An enzyme immunoassay for determination of individual isotype concentrations in bovine serum was developed. Polystyrene tubes were coated with affinity purified goat antibovine IgA, IgG1, IgG2 or IgM, washed and then incubated with purified isotypes to ascertain crossreactivity and sensitivity limits. Bound isotype was detected using the homologous affinity
