1. Near the resonance behavior of a periodicaly forced partially dissipative three-degrees-of-freedom mechanical system
Abstract In this paper, a nonlinear three-degrees-of-freedom dynamical system consisting of a variable-length pendulum mass attached by a massless spring to the forced slider is investigated. Numerical solution is preceded by application of Euler-Lagrange equation. Various techniques like time histories, phase planes, Poincaré maps and resonance plots are

2. Stick-slip analysis in vibrating two-layer beams with frictional interface
This paper attempts to present a new analysis for dynamical behavior of two-layer beams with frictional interface which held together in a pressurized environment, including stick-slip nonlinear phenomenon. To achieve a proper outlook of two-layer beam structures behavior, it is essential to realize the mechanisms of motion precisely. Coupled equation of tra

3. Irregular vibrations in multi-mass discrete-continuous systems torsionally deformed
In the paper irregular vibrations of discrete-continuous systems consisting of an arbitrary number rigid bodies connected by shafts torsionally deformed are studied. In the systems a local nonlinearity described by the polynomial of the third degree is introduced. It is assumed that the characteristic of the local nonlinearity is of a hard type. Governing eq

4. Criação e performance musical no contexto dos instrumentos musicais digitais / Music creation and performance in the context of digital musical instruments
This work presents a study about the computer as an instrument for musical performance. Based on this study we developed processes of music creation using the algorithmic representation and the computer code. The two main technical resources we applied in our works were: a sound synthesis method based on the generation of waveforms by non-linear equations; a

5. Equações Diferenciais por partes:ciclos limite e cones invaiantes / Piecewise differential equation: limit cycles and invariant cones

8. A 3-D four-wing attractor and its analysis
In this paper, several three dimensional (3-D) four-wing smooth quadratic autonomous chaotic systems are analyzed. It is shown that these systems have a number of similar features. A new 3-D continuous autonomous system is proposed based on these features. The new system can generate a four-wing chaotic attractor with less terms in the system equations. Seve

9. A multiparameter chaos control method applied to maps
Chaos is a kind of nonlinear system response that has a dense set of unstable periodic orbits (UPOs) embedded in a chaotic attractor. The idea of the chaos control is to explore the UPO stabilization obtaining dynamical systems that may quickly react to some new situation, changing conditions and their response. The OGY (Ott-Grebogi-Yorke) method achieves sy

10. Bifurcação de Hopf generalizada para um sistema planar suave por partes
In this work we use the qualitative theory of the di?erential equations to quickly study the Hopf bifurcation for a smooth planar dynamical system under the variation of the control parameter of the system, and a generalized Hopf bifurcation emanated from a corner for piecewise smooth planar dynamical system, about the generation of a branch of periodic orbi

11. The shape of space after WMAP data
What is the shape of space is a long-standing question in cosmology. I review recent advances in cosmic topology since it has entered a new era of experimental tests. High redshift surveys of astronomical sources and accurate maps of the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation (CMB) are beginning to hint at the shape of the universe, or at least to limit the w

12. Non-twist field line mappings for tokamaks with reversed magnetic shear
The structure of magnetic field lines in a tokamak with reversed magnetic shear is investigated by means of analytically derived area-preserving non-twist Poincaré maps. The basic configuration is the magnetic field produced by an ergodic limiter, superimposed to the tokamak equilibrium field in suitable coordinates. We consider the cases of one and two res
