14. Reconstrução tomográfica de imagens utilizando técnicas POCS seqüenciais e paralelas.
In this dissertation four algorithms are presented for the tomographic reconstruction of images using methods denominated POCS - Projections onto Convex Sets, which are the ART - Algebraic Reconstruction Technique, the SIRT - Simultaneous Iterative Reconstructive Technique, the sequencial POCS and parallel POCS. A comparison is made between the reconstructio

15. Poxvirus Orthologous Clusters: toward Defining the Minimum Essential Poxvirus Genome
Increasingly complex bioinformatic analysis is necessitated by the plethora of sequence information currently available. A total of 21 poxvirus genomes have now been completely sequenced and annotated, and many more genomes will be available in the next few years. First, we describe the creation of a database of continuously corrected and updated genome sequ

16. Hexachlorobenzene and octachlorostyrene in plasma of aluminium foundry workers using hexachloroethane for degassing.
OBJECTIVES: To study the load of selected organochlorine compounds in the blood of aluminium foundry workers who use hexachloroethane as a degassing agent for aluminium and to measure some possible effects on internal organs. METHODS: Plasma from nine male aluminium foundry workers with past experience of use of hexachloroethane and 18 controls (two controls

17. PYK2 in osteoclasts is an adhesion kinase, localized in the sealing zone, activated by ligation of alpha(v)beta3 integrin, and phosphorylated by src kinase.
Osteoclast activation is initiated by adhesion to the bone surface, followed by cytoskeletal rearrangement, the formation of the sealing zone, and a polarized ruffled membrane. This study shows that PYK2/CAKbeta/RAFTK, a cytoplasmic kinase related to the focal adhesion kinase, is highly expressed in rat osteoclasts in vivo. Using murine osteoclast-like cells

18. Validation of a clinical classification for subtypes of acute cerebral infarction.
The validity of a clinical classification system was assessed for subtypes of cerebral infarction for use in clinical trials of putative stroke therapies and clinical decision making in a population based stroke register (n = 536) compiled in Perth, Western Australia in 1989-90. The Perth Community Stroke Project (PCSS) used definitions and methodology simil
