1. α-Glucosidase and pancreatic lipase inhibitory activities and glucose uptake stimulatory effect of phenolic compounds from Dendrobium formosum
ABSTRACT A methanol extract from the whole plant of Dendrobium formosum Roxb. ex Lindl., Orchidaceae, showed inhibitory potential against α-glucosidase and pancreatic lipase enzymes. Chromatographic separation of the extract resulted in the isolation of twelve phenolic compounds. The structures of these compounds were determined through analysis of NMR and

2. Exploring plant growth-promotion actinomycetes from vermicompost and rhizosphere soil for yield enhancement in chickpea
Abstract The main objective of the present study was to isolate and characterize actinomycetes for their plant growth-promotion in chickpea. A total of 89 actinomycetes were screened for their antagonism against fungal pathogens of chickpea by dual culture and metabolite production assays. Four most promising actinomycetes were evaluated for their physiologi

3. Endophytic fungi found in association with Bacopa monnieri as potential producers of industrial enzymes and antimicrobial bioactive compounds
This study aimed to screen the endophytic fungal species of ethano-medicinal plant Bacopa monnieri (L.) Pennell for their ability to produce antimicrobial substances against Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeroginosa, Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Staphylococcus aureus, and Candida albicans. Endophytes were also screened for

5. Isolamento, seleção e cultivo de bactérias Produtoras de lipases para tratamento de Efluentes da indústria de alimentos / Isolation, selection and cultivation of bacteria Producing lipases for treating Effluents of the food industry
The present work was to isolate, select and cultivate microorganisms that produce lipases to apply the wastewater treatment industry of potato chips. For the isolation of microorganisms was used for industrial effluent and sewage treatment plant. The selection of the strain producing lipase was performed on solid medium containing tributyrin and in liquid me

6. Antracnose do abacateiro: danos pós-colheita, caracterização do agente causal, quantificação de parâmetros da pré-penetração e monocíclicos e controle químico / Avocado anthracnose: post-harvest damages, characterization of the causal agent, quantification of prepenetration and monocyclic parameters and chemical control.

8. Inhibition of pancreatic lipase by extracts of Baccharis trimera (Less.) DC., Asteraceae: evaluation of antinutrients and effect on glycosidases
In order to confirm the traditional use of Baccharis trimera (Less.) DC., Asteraceae, for the reduction of weight, plant extracts were evaluated on the activity of pancreatic lipase (PL), an enzyme responsible for hydrolysis of triacylglycerols in the diet for its subsequent absorption. The aqueous and infused extracts did not show inhibitory activity on the

9. Screening of microbial lipases and evalutaion of their potential to produce glycerides with high gamma linolenic acid concentration
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA, 18:3, cis- 6,9,12-octadecatrienoic acid), an important compound in n-6 eicosanoid family biosynthesis, occurs in the lipids of a few plant and microbial sources. This study focused on the screening of microbial strains with suitable lipase activity for enrichment of GLA by selective hydrolysis of the borage oil (21.6 % of GLA/total

10. Biorreciclagem de hexano e estudo de reações de óxido-redução usando plantas comestíveis / Biorecycling of hexane and study of oxido-reduction reactions using edible plants
The present work had as main goals the use of enzymatic reactions to degrade laboratory residues and to synthesize chiral alcohols. In the first part, it was carried out a screening of microorganisms and hydrolytic enzymes aiming the biorecycling of hexane from laboratory residues (a mixture of hexane-ethyl acetate). This misture is widely employed to purify

11. High-affinity salicylic acid-binding protein 2 is required for plant innate immunity and has salicylic acid-stimulated lipase activity
Salicylic acid (SA) is a critical hormone for signaling innate immunity in plants. Here we present the purification and characterization of SA-binding protein 2 (SABP2), a tobacco protein that is present in low abundance and specifically binds SA with high affinity. Sequence analysis predicted that SABP2 is a lipase belonging to the α/β fold hydrolase supe

12. Inhibition of Neutral Lipase from Castor Bean Lipid Bodies by Coenzyme A (CoA) and Oleoyl-CoA 1
The neutral lipase (EC 3.1.1.3) in lipid body membranes isolated from the endosperm of 4 day old castor (Ricinus communis L.) seedlings catalyzes the hydrolysis of [14C]trioleoylglycerol, releasing [14C]oleic acid for up to 4 hours. However, the addition of Mg-ATP and coenzyme A (CoA), which are present in the cytoplasm of plant cells, caused a progressive i
