1. Frequency Reconfigurable Near-Zero Refractive Index Material for Antenna Gain Enhancement Applications
Abstract In this paper, a planar near-zero refractive index material (NZRIM) consisting of an outer loop with four symmetrical quarter-rings is proposed. The quarter-rings are connected to the outer loop by two symmetrical microstrip lines on the opposite side. The backside of the substrate has mutually central split microstrip lines. By loading adjustable c

2. C-Band Monopulse Planar Array and Feeding Network
Abstract Monopulse radars operate with simultaneous beams and are used for tracking purposes, relying only on hardware to provide a real-time indication of the target position. A monopulse array and its feeding network is implemented and tested, in the frequency of 5.4 GHz, based on patch antennas using dieletric to provide wide bandwidth and high gain. The

3. Compact Triple Band Notched Pentagonal Shaped UWB Antenna Loaded with Slots and Parasitic Resonator
Abstract In this paper, a compact, planar printed microstrip line fed pentagonal shape ultra-wideband antenna with triple band-notched characteristics is proposed and investigated. By incorporating a pair of mirrored Γ-shape, a pair of mirrored L-shape slots in the pentagonal patch and bent C-shape parasitic strip at the backside of a patch, the tunable ban

4. Omni-Directional Wideband Antenna Array with Solar Cells
Abstract Distributed sensor networks are becoming more and more widespread due to their substantial benefits to our daily lives. These sensors, in most cases, are distributed in nature and even may require mobility. This, in turn, implies omnidirectional collector units to collect the data from various sensors at arbitrary directions. This work summarizes th

5. Optimization of Planar Antenna Arrays Using the Firefly Algorithm
Abstract This paper describes the application of the Firefly Algorithm for the optimization of linear and planar antenna arrays. In order to demonstrate the potential of this technique, three applications are reported. The first one is the synthesis of a radiation pattern with isoflux distribution with a non-uniformly spaced linear array composed of isotropi

6. Design of a novel dual: band planar inverted F - antenna for mobile radio applications
The design of a novel compact dual band PIFA (Planar Inverted F-Antenna) as an embedded antenna is reported in this paper for mobile radio applications. The new shorted planar antenna is realized using copper sheet of thickness 1mm and air as the dielectric substrate. The radiating patch consists of a branch line slit to reduce the size of the antenna having

7. A CMOS UWB transmitter with Vivaldi Array for Ultra-fast Beam steering microwave radar
This work presents a new Ultra Wide Band (UWB) beamforming fifth-order derivative Gaussian pulse transmitter with dual small Vivaldi antennas for remote acquisition of vital signals in impulse radar applications. The system consists of a programmable delay circuit (PDC or τ), a UWB pulse generator (PG) circuit and an array of two Vivaldi planar antennas. Th

8. Microstrip feed spanner shape monopole antennas for ultra wide band applications
An optimized design for the spanner shape regular hexagonal monopole (RHM) patch antennas has been reported to yield ultra wide band (UWB) impedance bandwidth. Impedance and radiation characteristics are presented and discussed. From the results, it has been observed that, the impedance bandwidth, defined by 10 dB return loss, can reach a value of 8.63GHz. 9. VHDL SIMPLE SYSTEM FOR DEVELOPING A SETUP OFMULTIPLE ANTENNAS / SISTEMA SIMPLES EM VHDL PARA O DESENVOLVIMENTO DE UM SETUP DE MÚLTIPLAS ANTENAS
MIMO systems (Multiple In - Multiple Out) are the rise of new tele- communication systems. They have the characteristic of generating greater channel capacity with low power transmitters, creating a more efficient use of energy. As the purpose is to provide higher data rate, conventional methods are too limited to improve this, and MIMO systems generate an i
