2. First record of growth rings for 11 native subtropical anuran species of South America
Abstract: Skeletochronology is the most accurate method to estimate a population age structure. The methodology is based on the analysis of secondary bone tissue in order to count growth rings. This study aimed to provide initial data, allowing researchers to further work out in the age of individuals and populations, sampling evidence of the presence of gro

3. Quantitative ultrasound at the hand phalanges in patients with bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaws
Patients with bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaws (BRONJ) who received intravenous or oral bisphosphonates (BP) were selected for determination of their bone microarchitecture as a risk predictor of BRONJ development. The diagnosis of BRONJ was made based on clinical and radiographic findings. The control group consisted of healthy patients. All

5. Case for diagnosis
Pachydermodactyly is a rare and benign form of acquired digital fibromatosis characterized by the expansion of soft tissue around proximal phalanges and interphalangeal joints. The etiology remains unknown, although it is suggested that repetitive mechanic trauma like the interlacing or rubbing of the fingers can lead to skin thickening. We report a case of

6. Morfometria radiográfica e tomográfica em dígitos de bovinos e bubalinos / Radiographic and tomographic morphometry in digiti of the cattle and buffaloes
Radiographic and computed tomography (CT) findings may contribute to the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases based on knowledge of digits morphometric reference values. Some breeds of cattle and buffaloes still require determinations of these values for the digits. Thus, the objective with this research was to compare and correlate the condyles and phalanges

7. Morfometria radiográfica e tomográfica em dígitos de bovinos e bubalinos / Radiographic and tomographic morphometry in digiti of the cattle and buffaloes

8. Comparison of bone quantity by ultrasound measurements of phalanges between white and black children living in Paraná, Brazil, with Europeans
The objective of this study was to determine bone quantity by ultrasound measurements of the proximal finger phalanges (AD-SoS = amplitude-dependent speed of sound) of healthy Brazilian schoolchildren living in Paraná, Brazil and to compare these values with European populations. The sample was composed of 1356 Brazilian schoolchildren of both genders (660

9. Novos métodos para estimativa da idade óssea baseados no processamento de imagens radiográficas da mão / New methods to bone age estimation based on hand radiographic image processing
Bone age (or skeletal maturity) assessment using a radiograph of the left hand is a common procedure in pediatric radiology. The methods most widely used for bone age determination presents high complexity degree for estimation, usually performed by radiologist and this task is extremely complex and time-consuming producing results with high charge of person

12. Relationships between fetal body weight of Wistar rats at term and the extent of skeletal ossification
We investigated the relationship between fetal body weight at term (pregnancy day 21) and the extent of ossification of sternum, metacarpus, metatarsus, phalanges (proximal, medial and distal) of fore- and hindlimbs and cervical and coccygeal vertebrae in Wistar rats. The relationships between fetal body weight and sex, intrauterine position, uterine horn, h
