2. Clinical and Microbiological Evaluation of Surgical and Nonsurgical Treatment of Aggressive Periodontitis

3. Liposomal anesthetic gel for pain control during periodontal therapy in adults: a placebo-controlled RCT
Abstract Periodontal therapy usually requires local anesthesia. If effective, a non-invasive, liposomal anesthetic gel could increase the levels of acceptance of patients in relation to periodontal therapy. Objective: This study investigated the efficacy of liposomal anesthetic gel for pain control during periodontal therapy. Methodology: Forty volunteers

4. The impact of maintenance on peri-implant health
Abstract Most of the literature evaluating dental implants focuses on implant survival, which is a limited proxy for the successful rehabilitation of patients with missing teeth. Success should include not only survival but also lack of mechanical, biological, and esthetics problems. A comprehensive review of local and systemic risk factors prior to implant

5. Comparison of apical periodontitis repair in endodontic treatment with calcium hydroxide-dressing and aPDT
Abstract This study evaluated the effect of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) on the endodontic treatment of apical periodontitis (AP). AP was induced in 48 premolars of 6 dogs. After biomechanical preparation, the teeth were divided into 4 groups: Calcium-Hydroxide (CH)/120d and CH/180d: root canals filled with CH-based dressing for 15 days before o

6. Clinical attachment loss and molecular profile of inflamed sites before treatment
Abstract Objective: To monitor early periodontal disease progression and to investigate clinical and molecular profile of inflamed sites by means of crevicular fluid and gingival biopsy analysis. Methodology: Eighty-one samples of twenty-seven periodontitis subjects and periodontally healthy individuals were collected for the study. Measurements of clinica

7. The effect of nonsurgical periodontal therapy on hepcidin and on inflammatory and iron marker levels
Abstract Serum hepcidin levels may increase in response to infection and inflammation. The present study investigated the effect of nonsurgical periodontal therapy (NSPT) on levels of serum hepcidin, inflammatory markers, and iron markers. An interventional study was conducted on 67 patients (age 30–65 years) without other diseases, except for chronic peri

8. Orthodontic treatment as an adjunct to periodontal therapy
A má oclusão impossibilitava a corr

9. The role of visfatin levels in gingival crevicular fluid as a potential biomarker in the relationship between obesity and periodontal disease
Abstract Objectives Visfatin is an adipokine that plays an important role in immune functions as a growth factor, enzyme, and pro-inflammatory mediator. We aimed to determine the levels of visfatin, interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) in both obese/non-obese patients, with/without generalized chr

10. Relationship between periodontal outcomes and serum biomarkers changes after non-surgical periodontal therapy
Abstract: The systemic effect of chronic periodontitis (CP) has been suggested by several studies as an etiologic factor and modulator of diseases based on the changes in the inflammatory marker levels. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the changes in clinical periodontal outcomes and serum biomarkers (CRP, IL-6, albumin and percentage

11. Frequency of Porphyromonas gingivalis fimA in smokers and nonsmokers after periodontal therapy
Abstract Porphyromonas gingivalis is one of the most important Gram-negative anaerobe bacteria involved in the pathogenesis of periodontitis. P. gingivalis has an arsenal of specialized virulence factors that contribute to its pathogenicity. Among them, fimbriae play a role in the initial attachment and organization of biofilms. Different genotypes of fimA h
