1. An analysis of parametric instability of risers
In this work, three catenary riser models subjected to harmonic oscillations are studied. Two are finite-element models, one studied with Orcaflex, an offshore marine system analysis software, and another one with Abaqus, a generalist structural analysis software. The third model is an analytical reduced-order model that represents only the touch-down zone.

2. A procedure for the parametric identification of viscoelastic dampers accounting for preload
Passive vibration isolators are usually made of viscoelastic materials. These materials have non-linear characteristics that change their dynamical properties with temperature, frequency and strain level. The vibration isolator's mathematical modeling and optimal design require the prior knowledge of the stiffness and damping of the applied viscoelastic mate

3. Influence of physical and geometrical system parameters uncertainties on the nonlinear oscillations of cylindrical shells
This work investigates the influence of physical and geometrical system parameters uncertainties and excitation noise on the nonlinear vibrations and stability of simply-supported cylindrical shells. These parameters are composed of both deterministic and random terms. Donnell's non-linear shallow shell theory is used to study the non-linear vibrations of th

6. Vibrações ressonantes não-lineares em estruturas tipo viga sob excitação paramétrica e combinada / Nonlinear resonance vibrations in beam type structures under parametric and combined excitations
This document presents results of theoretical and experimental investigations on the non-linear vibration characteristics of an important class of flexible structures. The motivation for such a study arises mainly from the increasing need for lightweight structural members. The weight reduction associated to the use of novel materials contribute to the incre

7. Variation of kinetic temperature of cold magnetically trapped atoms excited by external electromagnetic fields / Variação da temperatura cinética em átomos aprisionados bombeados por campos externos
