1. PEDOGENESIS ON COASTAL TABLELANDS AREA WITH LOW RANGE ALTIMETRY IN PARAÍBA STATE

2. Procedures and chemical evaluation of parameters of nutritional interest of spinach sold in Bahia.

3. Evaluation of chemical dispersants and pre-treatment in the determination of clay in soils of different mineralogy / Avaliação de dispersantes químicos e pré-tratamentos na determinação de argila de solos de mineralogias distintas
The knowledge about the physical properties of soil, including the levels of clay is of paramount importance to the environment and for agriculture. Soil apparently equal may have different behavior because of inherent characteristics, determined by the performance of different procedures for training and the nature of their material trainer. The objectives

4. Retrospective and prospective study of urolithiasis in dogs / Estudo retrospectivo e prospectivo da urolitíase em cães
Urolithiasis is a relatively common urinary tract disorder of dogs and cats. Whenever urine becomes oversaturate with cristallogenic substances, uroliths may be formed from crystalline material and protein matrix. Uroliths may be composed from only one kind or from different types of minerals, which can be deposited in layers or aggregate forming a stone. Th

5. Utilização de diferentes tipos de imobilização da enzima oxalato oxidase na construção de biossensores
This work is based on development of potentiometric and amperometric biosensors in order to analyse oxalate. Several technics of enzyme immobilization were used to immobilize oxalate oxidase on beet stem which were used as enzyme suport and submitted to differents kinds of immobilization ( gamma radiation, covalent linkage, adsortion and natural) making pote

6. Uso de metodo sol-gel e de coprecipitação na preparação de oxidos metalicos
This thesis describes the preparation of two crystalline solids obtained by thermal decomposition of poorly crystallized solids obtained by precipitation techniques. Magnetite a ferrimagnetic crystalline solid, was obtained by heating non-crystalline iron (III) hidroxoacetate (HAFe), under nitrogen. Mixed oxides of La-Ba-Cu and Y-Ba-Cu, which are superconduc

7. A physiological role for oxalic acid biosynthesis in the wood-rotting basidiomycete Fomitopsis palustris
A metabolic mechanism for oxalic acid biosynthesis in the wood-rotting basidiomycete Fomitopsis palustris has been proposed on the basis of biochemical analyses of glucose metabolism. There was a strong correlation between glucose consumption and oxalate production. Oxalic acid was found to accumulate in the culture fluid in about 80% of the theoretical

8. A combined qualitative and quantitative procedure for the chemical analysis of urinary calculi
A better understanding of the physico-chemical principles underlying the formation of calculus has led to a need for more precise information on the chemical composition of stones. A combined qualitative and quantitative procedure for the chemical analysis of urinary calculi which is suitable for routine use is presented. The procedure involves five simple q

9. Isolation and Identification of the Coal-Solubilizing Agent Produced by Trametes versicolor
Low-ranked coals were dissolved by using cell extracts derived from liquid cultures of Trametes versicolor. The coal-solubilizing agent (CSA) was separated from the broth components by a multistep isolation procedure including reverse-phase high-pressure liquid chromatography, size exclusion chromatography, ethanol fractionation, and recrystallization. Stair

10. Development of a two-step enrichment procedure for recovery of Yersinia enterocolitica from food.
Two new enrichment media were formulated for the recovery of Yersinia enterocolitica from foods: (i) yeast extract-rose bengal broth for preenrichment at 4 or 10 degrees C; and (ii) bile-oxalate-sorbose broth, a selective enrichment incubated at 22 degrees C. Comparison of these media in a two-step enrichment procedure against cold enrichment and modified Ra

11. Rapid Assay for Microbially Reducible Ferric Iron in Aquatic Sediments
The availability of ferric iron for microbial reduction as directly determined by the activity of iron-reducing organisms was compared with its availability as determined by a newly developed chemical assay for microbially reducible iron. The chemical assay was based on the reduction of poorly crystalline ferric iron by hydroxylamine under acidic conditions.
