13. Effect of Forced Molting on body characteristics and post-molting egg production performance of Layers in Quetta, Pakistan
White leghorn layer (n=2740), with 85weeksof age, were submitted to forced molting by fasting for 13 days and changes in body characteristics and subsequent laying performance during second laying cycle were evaluated. Live body weight (LBW),ovary weight (OW), oviduct weight (OvW) and oviduct length (OvL) were measured before and after fasting. Post-fasting

14. Effect of forced-molting methods and rearing temperatures on the performance and organ biometrics of laying hens
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the biometrics of organs (ovary, oviduct, liver, proventriculus and gizzard) of laying hens submitted to different forced-molting methods of molt and maintained at three different temperature. Organs were evaluated after molting and resting period. Six hundred birds were distributed according to a completely randomized

15. IL-10 release by bovine epithelial cells cultured with Trichomonas vaginalis and Tritrichomonas foetus
Trichomonas vaginalis and Tritrichomonas foetus are parasitic protists of the human and bovine urogenital tracts, respectively. Several studies have described the cytotoxic effects of trichomonads on urogenital tract epithelial cells. However, little is known about the host cell response against trichomonads. The aim of this study was to determine whether T.

16. Effects of green tea polyphenols, insulin-like growth factor I and glucose on developmental competence of bovine oocytes
The present study examined the effects of green tea polyphenols (GTP), insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) and glucose on oocyte in vitro maturation, subsequent embryo development and blastocyst quality in bovine. Cumulus-oocyte complexes (COC) were aspirated from the ovaries and cultured in synthetic oviduct fluid supplemented with MEM amino acids (SOFaa)

17. Receptores do hormônio luteinizante em diferentes porções do oviduto de éguas em estro. / Receptors for luteinizing hormone in different portions of the oviduct of mares in estrus
Embryonic development begins with the fertilization of the egg by the sperm in the oviduct. The oviduct is a tortuous organ which extended measures 20 to 30cm and is divided into three parts: the isthmus, ampulla and infundibulum. Hormones influence the activity of target cells by binding to specific receptor molecules. Immunohistochemistry is the set of pro

18. Immunohistochemical identification of luteinizing, estrogen and progesterone receptors in the extra-gonadal reproductive tract of mares / Identificação imunohistoquímica de receptores para hormônio luteinizante, estrôgeno e progesterona no trato reprodutivo extragonadal da égua

19. New morphological aspects and phylogenetic considerations of Cicindis Bruch (Coleoptera: Carabidae: Cicindini)
Cicindis Bruch is a monospecific genus of carabid beetles endemic to Argentina. In this contribution, Cicindis horni Bruch is re-described, with addition of new morphological features of male internal sac, female genital tract and elytral closure. New information on the species' habitat and distribution is also provided. The phylogenetic placement and relati

20. Oviduct-specific expression of tissue plasminogen activator in laying hens
Egg-laying hens are important candidate bioreactors for pharmaceutical protein production because of the amenability of their eggs for protein expression. In this study, we constructed an oviduct-specific vector containing tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) protein and green fluorescent protein (pL-2.8OVtPAGFP) and assessed its expression in vitro and in viv

21. Ultrastructural and functional aspects of the spermatheca in the american harlequin bug, Murgantia histrionica (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae)
The spermatheca of Murgantia histrionica (Hahn) was investigated using fluorescence, scanning and transmission electron microscopy. The aim of the study was to elucidate the structure of this organ, pointing out differences between mated and unmated females. Results have shown an elaborated cuticular structure associated with muscular and glandular tissues.

22. Production and reproduction of egg- and meat-type quails reared in different group sizes
Egg- and meat-type quails were reared in groups of different sizes with a fixed female-to-male ratio of 2 to 1 and an area of 158 cm² per bird. The aim was to investigate the influence of group size on quail production and reproductive variables. To this end, 360 quails (180 meat and 180 egg-type quails) were assigned in a completely randomized experimental

23. Estrutura e ultraestrutura do oviduto de fêmeas de Hemidactylus mabouia (Reptilia, Gekkonidae) no período vitelogênico, com ênfase na estocagem e fagocitose de espermatozóides / Structure and ultrastructure of the oviduct of female Hemidactylus mabouia in the vitellogenic period, with emphasis on storage and phagocytosis of spermatozoa

Assessment of transmission and contamination of Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) with Salmonella Pullorum.
The quail raising is a consolidated activity in poultry commercial alternative. Due to this development, new research is emerging to better productivity in all activities of this sector. Thus the health of these birds becomes an important field of study in large-scale production of quail for both the production of egg and for the production of cut. One of th
