1. Image Processing and Analysis for Measuring Ocular Refraction Errors / "Processamento e análise de imagens para medição de vícios de refração ocular"
This work presents a computational system that uses Machine Learning (ML) techniques to assist in ophthalmological diagnosis. The system developed produces objective and automatic measures of ocular refraction errors, namely astigmatism, hypermetropia and myopia from functional images of the human eye acquired with a technique known as Hartmann-Shack (HS), o

10. An evaluation of four end-user systems for searching MEDLINE.
This study compared features and determined which of four end-user systems (PaperChase, GRATEFUL MED, Med-Base, or Compact Cambridge: MEDLINE) would best serve the Medical Sciences and Optometry Libraries of Indiana University in providing biomedical information to faculty and graduate students through MEDLINE. Cost, ease of use, retrieval, training needs, e

12. Refractive sectors in the visual field of the pigeon eye.
Scheiner's principle has been used in electroretinographic optometry to refract the photoreceptor plane in different regions of the visual field of the pigeon eye. Along the horizon and in the upper visual field the eye is emmetropic, or nearly so. Below the horizon the eye becomes progressively more myopic at more negative elevations, refractive state falli
