3. Acute exercise inhibits gastric emptying of liquids in rats: influence of the NO-cGMP pathway
We previously found that acute exercise inhibited the gastric emptying of liquid in awake rats by causing an acid-base imbalance. In the present study, we investigated the involvement of the nitric oxide-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (NO-cGMP) pathway, vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), and corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) peptide in this phenomenon.

4. Nitric oxide modulates ATP-evoked currents in mouse Leydig cells
Testosterone synthesis within Leydig cells is a calcium-dependent process. Intracellular calcium levels are regulated by different processes including ATP-activated P2X purinergic receptors, T-type Ca2+ channels modulated by the luteinizing hormone, and intracellular calcium storages recruited by a calcium-induced calcium release mechanism. On the other hand

5. Possible mechanisms involved in the vasorelaxant effect produced by clobenzorex in aortic segments of rats
Clobenzorex is a metabolic precursor of amphetamine indicated for the treatment of obesity. Amphetamines have been involved with cardiovascular side effects such as hypertension and pulmonary arterial hypertension. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the direct application of 10–9–10–5 M clobenzorex on isolated phenylephrine-precont

7. Pharmacological study of the mechanisms involved in the vasodilator effect produced by the acute application of triiodothyronine to rat aortic rings
A relationship between thyroid hormones and the cardiovascular system has been well established in the literature. The present in vitro study aimed to investigate the mechanisms involved in the vasodilator effect produced by the acute application of 10-8–10-4 M triiodothyronine (T3) to isolated rat aortic rings. Thoracic aortic rings from 80 adult male Wis

8. Central release of nitric oxide mediates antinociception induced by aerobic exercise
Nitric oxide (NO) is a soluble gas that participates in important functions of the central nervous system, such as cognitive function, maintenance of synaptic plasticity for the control of sleep, appetite, body temperature, neurosecretion, and antinociception. Furthermore, during exercise large amounts of NO are released that contribute to maintaining body h

9. Acute stress-induced antinociception is cGMP-dependent but heme oxygenase-independent
Endogenous carbon monoxide (CO), which is produced by the enzyme heme oxygenase (HO), participates as a neuromodulator in physiological processes such as thermoregulation and nociception by stimulating the formation of 3′,5′-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). In particular, the acute physical restraint-induced fever of rats can be blocked by inhibiti

10. Pharmacological characterization of the relaxant effect induced by adrenomedullin in rat cavernosal smooth muscle
The aim of the present study was to determine the mechanisms underlying the relaxant effect of adrenomedullin (AM) in rat cavernosal smooth muscle (CSM) and the expression of AM system components in this tissue. Functional assays using standard muscle bath procedures were performed in CSM isolated from male Wistar rats. Protein and mRNA levels of pre-pro-AM,

11. Desenvolvimento de Novos Metalofármacos Ativadores/Estimuladores da Enzima Guanilato Ciclase Solúvel / Development of Novel Activators metallodrugs / stimulators of soluble guanylate cyclase enzyme

12. A S-nitrosação do mTORC1 reduz a proliferação de linhagens tumorais humanas / S-nitrosation of mTORC1 reduces cancer cell proliferation
S-Nitrosation is a dynamic and reversible post-translational modification of proteins that controls important cellular functions through the modification of cysteine thiol side chains by nitric oxide (NO). mTOR signaling pathway deregulation is involved in various cancer types and contributes to cancer cell proliferation as well as growth factor independence
