13. O princípio do não-confisco no subsistema tributário nacional / The principle of non-seizure in the national tax subsystem
This present thesis studies the complex theme related to the principle of non-seizure in the tax law subsystem which, in spite of being of unquestionable basic nature, does not present well defined limits in national law and presents opportunity for unending doubts related to the spreading of its effects, its scope and limits. In order to achieve the objecti

14. Participação da progesterona e do estradiol na redução das crises convulsivas induzida pela gestação em um modelo genético de epilepsia.
Pregnancy reduces the intensity of epileptic seizure in part of the population of a genetic model of reflex epilepsy in which seizures are induced by high intensity sound stimulation, the Wistar Audiogenic Rats (WAR), as it has been shown by previous studies of our lab. However, the mechanism involved in this reduction has not been yet clarified. Several stu

15. Execução forçada de créditos alimentares contra a Fazenda Pública Brasileira na Justiça do Trabalho / Foreclosure of alimony against the Brazilian Public Treasury in the Labor Court
This is a critical study about the foreclosure of alimony against the Brazilian Public Treasury in the Labor Court, where it is evident that when the public administrator does not pay regularly dispatched precatory, the execution creditor, due to the understanding adopted by our Supreme Court, stays without efficient legal remedy to obtain the settlement of

16. Efeitos biológicos da peçonha da aranha Parawixia bistriata em ratos: isolamento e caracterização química parcial de uma neurotoxina pró-convulsivante / Biological effects of the Parawixia bistriata spider venon in rats: isolation and partially chemical characterization of a convulsant neurotoxin.
Arthropod venoms are rich sources of neurotoxins, molecular tools with selective and specific actions over the mamalian central nervous system with great clinical and scientific importance. Previous work of our laboratory showed that the spider venom of Parawixia bistriata, when injected by intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) route, induced convulsive seizures

17. Epilepsia de lobo temporal familiar : aspectos clinicos e investigação por ressonancia magnetica
Two forms of familial temporallobe epilepsy (FTLE) are recognized according to seizure semiology: mesial (Familial MTLE) and lateraVneocortical(Familial LTLE). Although originally described as benign and non-Iesional, Familial MTLE has later been well characterized by the presence of both refractory patients and hippocampal atrophy (HA) on magnetic resonance

18. Compound 48/80, a histamine-depleting agent, blocks the protective effect of morphine against electroconvulsive shock in mice
We have shown that morphine has an anticonvulsive effect against maximal electroconvulsive shock (MES) in mice, and this effect is antagonized by histamine H1-receptor antagonists. Brain histamine is localized both in neurons and in mast cells, and morphine is known to enhance the turnover of neuronal histamine and to release histamine from mast cells. In th

19. Disturbios cognitivos na epilepsia
The present research refers to the the relationship between epileptic syndrome - Complex Partial Seizures - and cognitive performance. In order to study this subject we defined the following aims: 1) Characterization of neuroclinic condition of epileptic patients; 2) We studied the correlations between Epilepsy and Neuropsychological disorders; and 3) Contri

20. Displasias corticais associadas a epilepsia : delineamento de uma nova sindrome, revisão de conceitos localizacionais e proposta de uma nova classificação
Modemneuro:imagingtechniques current1y allows lin vivo I identification of cortical dysplastic lesions in patients previously thought to have cryptogenic epilepsies. These lesions constitute an heterogenous group of disorders from clinicall anatomical, histopathological, and pathogenetic standpoints. The fact that such heterogeneity is not readily realized o

21. Change of seizure frequency in pregnant epileptic women.
The effect of pregnancy on seizure frequency was monitored prospectively in 136 pregnancies of 122 epileptic women. Pregnancy did not influence the seizure frequency in 68 pregnancies (50%). In 50 pregnancies (37%) the number of seizures increased during pregnancy or puerperium. The seizure frequency decreased in 18 pregnancies (13%). In 34 out of 50 pregnan

22. Surgical treatment of temporal lobe epilepsy: clinical, radiological, and histopathological findings in 178 patients.
The surgical treatment of pharmacoresistant temporal lobe epilepsy is increasing rapidly. The correlation of preoperative MRI, histopathological findings, and postoperative seizure control is reported for 178 patients with chronic medically intractable temporal lobe epilepsy who were operated on between November 1987 and January 1993. Histopathologically the

23. Prolonged sensory or visceral symptoms: an under-diagnosed form of non-convulsive focal (simple partial) status epilepticus.
Four patients had prolonged, sensory, simple partial seizures (SPS), lasting up to several days, without associated behavioural impairment. In three patients, the SPS often occurred as a prolonged "aura" before a more overt seizure. Descriptions included: "butterflies", rising epigastric sensation; "a thought in the stomach", and an olfactory sensation. Seiz

24. Serum prolactin and cortisol concentrations after grand mal seizures.
Serial serum prolactin and cortisol levels were measured in five patients after a grand mal seizure and in four volunteers with simulated seizures. Single levels were measured after a witnessed seizure in 26 patients and in a matched control group. Significant increase in both prolactin and cortisol levels occurred after seizures. The change in cortisol leve
