1. Buckling configurations and dynamic response of buckled Euler-Bernoulli beams with non-classical supports
Exact solutions of buckling configurations and vibration response of post-buckled configurations of beams with non-classical boundary conditions (e.g., elastically supported) are presented using the Euler-Bernoulli theory. The geometric nonlinearity arising from mid-plane stretching (i.e., the von Kármán nonlinear strain) is considered in the formulation.

2. Dynamics of rotating non-linear thin-walled composite beams: analysis of modeling uncertainties
In this article a non-linear model for dynamic analysis of rotating thin-walled composite beams is introduced. The theory is deduced in the context of classic variational principles and the finite element method is employed to discretize and furnish a numerical approximation to the motion equations. The model considers shear flexibility as well as non-linear

5. Control of dynamic systems : absolute stability, saturation and bilinearity / Controle de sistemas dinamicos : estabilidade absoluta, saturação e bilinearidade
This thesis presents contributions to the solution of the problems of stability analysis and synthesis of state feedback controllers for dynamic systems with non-linear elements, by means of conditions based on linear matrix inequalities and Lyapunov functions. For switched systems subject to saturation in the actuators, convex conditions to design switched

6. Dynamic analysis of a cantilever beam excited by a non ideal source / Análise dinâmica de uma viga engastada excitada por uma fonte não ideal
Studies about the dynamic behaviour of nonlinear structures have been to this date subject of extensive research all around the world. Since the beginning of the development of the nonlinear oscillation theory one has tried to understand the basic mechanisms, like disruptions that would cause complex answers on flexible structures. This paper presents a theo

7. DYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF HYPERLASTIC CIRCULAR MEMBRANES / ANÁLISE DINÂMICA DE MEMBRANAS CIRCULARES HIPERELÁSTICAS
This work presents an analysis of the nonlinear vibration response of a prestretched hyperelastic circular membrane subjected to finite deformations. The membrane material is assumed to be isotropic, homogeneous and neo-Hookean. Based on the theory of finite deformations for hyperelastic membranes, a variational formulation is developed. First the exact solu

8. MODELAGEM E SIMULAÇÃO DA DINÂMICA DE BÓIAS DE SUPERFÍCIE ANCORADAS / MODELING AND SIMULATION OF THE DYNAMIC OF SURFACE MOORED BUOYS
In this work a method for two-dimensional dynamic analysis of a cylindrical buoy under surfaced waves and moored to the seafloor by a flexible riser is presented. The finite element model used to describe the dynamics of the maritime line was developed by Lustosa (2002). This is a two node beam element based on the Euler-Bernoulli theory, with the element ki

9. MODELOS DE DIMENSÃO REDUZIDA PARA ANÁLISE DAS OSCILAÇÕES NÃO-LINEARES E ESTABILIDADE DE CASCAS CILÍNDRICAS / LOW DIMENSIONAL MODELS FOR NONLINEAR VIBRATION ANALYSIS AND STABILITY OF CYLINDRICAL SHELLS.
The nonlinear vibrations and stability of a fluid-filled cylindrical shell is investigated using reduced order models. First, the nonlinear equations of motion of the cylindrical shell are deduced based on the expressions for the potential and kinetic energy, which are obtained using Donnell shallow shell theory. The internal fluid is considered to be irrota

This research consists of reflecting on the production methods of Contemporary Art, specifically, on the study of the creation process used by the artist Joseph Beuys. We will discourse on some specific features of the Visual Arts in this context, attempting to understand how much the interfaces among means shape the communication in certain contemporary art

A methodology for modeling fatigue crack growth in pressurized, stiffened, thin shell structures is implemented within a software framework that consists of a fracture simulation code associated with a finite element analysis code. Crack trajetories are allowed to be arbitrary and are computed incrementally as a part of the simulation. Trajectories are repre

12. Variabilidade da freqüência cardíaca no domínio do caos como preditora de morbimortalidade em pacientes submetidos à cirurgia de revascularização do miocárdio.
Recent studies have shown that low heart rate variability (HRV) is a clear indication of an increased risk for severe ventricular arrhytmia and sudden cardiac. However, the traditional techniques of data analysis in time and frequency domain are often not sufficient to characterize the complex dynamics of heart beat generation. Hence, different attempts have
