1. Expression of NR1I3 in mouse lung tumors induced by the tobacco-specific nitrosamine 4-(methylnitrosamino)-4-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone
Nuclear receptor subfamily 1, group I, member 3 (NR1I3) is reported to be a possible novel therapeutic target for some cancers, including lung, brain and hematopoietic tumors. Here, we characterized expression of NR1I3 in a mouse model of lung carcinogenesis induced by 4-(methylnitrosamino)-4-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK), the most potent tobacco carcinogen.

2. Potential chemoprotective effects of green propolis, L-lysine and celecoxib on bone marrow cells and peripheral blood lymphocytes of Wistar rats subjected to bladder chemical carcinogenesis
PURPOSE:To evaluate the genotoxicity of propolis and L-lysine, as well as their effects on the possible cellular damage in erythroblasts (bone marrow) and leukocytes (peripheral blood) caused by the carcinogen BBN (n - butyl - n {4 - hydroxybutyl} nitrosamine) in rats subjected to bladder carcinogenesis and treated with green propolis and L-lysine.METHODS: O

4. Efeito da dieta à base de Cogumelo do Sol (Agaricus blazei, Murrill) no parênquima pulmonar de ratos submetidos a estímulo carcinogênico pela nitrosamina 4-metilnitrosamina-1-3piridil-1 butanona (NNK) / Effect of diet of sun mushroom (Agaricus blazei Murrill) in the lung parenchyma of rats subjected to stimulation with the carcinogen nitrosamine-4-1-metilnitrosamine 3piridil-1butanone (NNK)
The mushrooms have been used for many years as food for its nutritional value and/or as a therapeutic agent. One of the most studied fungus is currently the Agaricus blazei Murrill, popularly Known as Cogumelo do Sol, for its beneficial credited in the prevention of cancer. This study examined the effects of ingestion of A. blazei in the lung parenchyma of w

5. Tratamento de efluentes da indústria de processamento de carnes utilizando flotação por ar dissolvido e processos de oxidação avançada
The use of wastewater treatment processes with high efficiency of organic matter removal is considered one of the most important steps to achieve lower pollution loads in meat processing industries. As a primary treatment, dissolved air flotation processes (DAF) using coagulation-flocculation are generally applied. Additionally, the utilization of high effic

6. N-Nitrosamine formation by cultures of several microorganisms.
Of 38 pure cultures of microorganisms tested, only one, Pseudomonas stutzeri, was capable of forming dimethylnitrosamine from dimethylamine and nitrite during growth. Resting cells of P. stutzeri, Cryptococcus terreus, Escherichia coli, and Xanthomonas campestris formed dimethylnitrosamine, although no nitrosamine was found in growing cultures of the latter

7. Prospective study of meat intake and dietary nitrates, nitrites, and nitrosamines and risk of adult glioma123
Background: The hypothesis that nitrosamine exposure may increase the risk of glioma has been circulating for several decades, but testing it has been difficult because of the ubiquitous nature of nitrosamine exposure. Diet has been the focus of many studies because it can substantially influence nitrosamine exposure, mostly from the endogenous formation of

9. A tobacco-specific N-nitrosamine or cigarette smoke condensate causes neoplastic transformation of xenotransplanted human bronchial epithelial cells.
Using a xenotransplantation system in which immortalized nontumorigenic human bronchial epithelial cells (BEAS-2B cells) are grown in deepithelialized rat tracheas that are subcutaneously transplanted into athymic nude mice, we exposed BEAS-2B cells either to cigarette smoke condensate or to the tobacco-specific N-nitrosamine 4-(methylnitrosamine)-1-(3-pyrid

10. Activated K-ras and N-ras oncogenes in primary renal mesenchymal tumors induced in F344 rats by methyl(methoxymethyl)nitrosamine.
Administration of methyl(methoxymethyl)nitrosamine to newborn Fischer 344 rats results in the preferential induction of renal tumors arising from the mesenchymal component of the kidney. DNA from a significant proportion of these tumors was capable of transforming NIH/3T3 cells. This report describes the renal tumor model, the detection of two different ras

12. Degradation of N-Nitrosamines by Intestinal Bacteria
A major proportion of bacterial types, common in the gastrointestinal tract of many animals and man, were active in degrading diphenylnitrosamine and dimethylnitrosamine, the former being degraded more rapidly than the latter. At low nitrosamine concentrations (<0.05 μmol/ml), approximately 55% of added diphenylnitrosamine, 30% of N-nitrosopyrrolidine, and
