1. Effect of penehyclidine hydrochloride on β-arrestin-1 expression in lipopolysaccharide-induced human pulmonary microvascular endothelial cells
β-arrestins are expressed proteins that were first described, and are well-known, as negative regulators of G protein-coupled receptor signaling. Penehyclidine hydrochloride (PHC) is a new anti-cholinergic drug that can inhibit biomembrane lipid peroxidation, and decrease cytokines and oxyradicals. However, to date, no reports on the effects of PHC on β-ar

2. Cardiovascular effects of the intracerebroventricular injection of adrenomedullin: roles of the peripheral vasopressin and central cholinergic systems
Our objective was to investigate in conscious Sprague-Dawley (6-8 weeks, 250-300 g) female rats (N = 7 in each group) the effects of intracerebroventricularly (icv) injected adrenomedullin (ADM) on blood pressure and heart rate (HR), and to determine if ADM and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptors, peripheral V1 receptors or the central cholinerg

The structural diversity of the proline-rich oligopeptides from Bothrops jararaca (Bj-BPPs) provides synergistic cardiovascular actions.

Role of muscarinic receptor in the context memory and context-shock association in context fear conditioning

5. Modulation of intracellular signaling pathways in insulin-producing cells lines by INGAP-PP / Analise das vias de sinalização intracelulares em linhagens de celulas produtoras de insulina expostas ao INGAP-PP
The pentadecapeptide comprising the 104-118 aminoacid sequence of the ilotropin-derived Reg3- related islet neogenesis associated protein (INGA-PP) has been implicated in pancreatic beta-cell neogenesis and enhancement of the insulin secretion in pancreatic islets. There is little information regarding the mechanism of action of the polypeptide. The aim of t

6. Modulação do mecanismo de sedreção de insulina em ilhotas pancreaticas de ratos submetidos a restrição protetica e suplementados com taurina / Insulin secretion mechanisms in pancreatic islets of protein-restricted rats supplemented with taurine
Malnutrition still is a public health issue, especially in developing countries. Many studies correlate malnourishment during early life and the development of cardiovascular disease and type 2 Diabetes Mellitus on latter stages. Animal models of malnutrition reveal impaired insulin secretion stimulated by glucose and other insulinotropic agents as well as l

7. Participation of the muscarinic receptors and of the nitric oxide pathway in the spasmolytic effect of the total alkaloids fraction obtained from Solanum paludosum Moric.

8. Trypanosoma cruzi infection induces up-regulation of cardiac muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in vivo and in vitro
The pathogenesis of chagasic cardiomyopathy is not completely understood, but it has been correlated with parasympathetic denervation (neurogenic theory) and inflammatory activity (immunogenic theory) that could affect heart muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR) expression. In order to further understand whether neurogenic and/or immunogenic alterations

Peripheral injection of pilocarpine (PILO, 1 mg/Kg of body weight), muscarinic cholinergic agonist, induce salivation, water intake and pressor response. The medial septal area (MSA) is an important brain area involved in cardiovascular regulation and hydroelectrolytic control. In this present study, we investigated: 1) the effect of MSA electrolytic lesion

10. Efeito do treinamento físico na cardiomiopatia induzida por hiperatividade simpática em camundongos com ablação dos receptores alpha 2A/alpha 2C- adrenérgicos / Effect of exercise training on cardiomyopathy induced by sympathetic hiperactivity in mice lacking a2A/a2C- adrenoceptors
Presynaptic a2-adrenoceptors (a2 AR) regulate the cardiovascular function by inhibiting neurotransmitter release on the sympathetic nerve terminals. We have recently reported that disruption for both a2A and a2C AR subtypes in mice (KO) leads to sympathetic hyperactivity with evidence of cardiac dysfunction by 4 mo of age. These mice provide a model system f

Various neurotransmission systems have influence on the behavioral sensitization process developed after repeated administration of some drugs of abuse, among them the cholinergic system, which modulates the dopaminergic pathways functioning. In this study we evaluated the influence of scopolamine (an antagonist of cholinergic muscarinic receptors) on the de

12. Loss of resting bradycardia with detraining is associated with intrinsic heart rate changes
The mechanisms underlying the loss of resting bradycardia with detraining were studied in rats. The relative contribution of autonomic and non-autonomic mechanisms was studied in 26 male Wistar rats (180-220 g) randomly assigned to four groups: sedentary (S, N = 6), trained (T, N = 8), detrained for 1 week (D1, N = 6), and detrained for 2 weeks (D2, N = 6).
