13. Emissão laser em meios espalhadores com ganho: estudos experimentais em soluções etanóicas e aquosas
The approach of this thesis is study the laser emission from highly scattering media with gain with incoherent feedback. These systems are called of random lasers and diverge from the typical laser, because they can emit monochrome light with high intensity without a cavity. We detail several experimental studies in samples containing different rhodamines in

14. Investigation of the theory of coupling compositis in thermal waves fields / Investigação da teoria de acoplamentos de compósitos em campos de ondas térmicas
In this work we elaborate an analytical solution of the temperature field of an opaque material containing two overlapping and parallel subsurface cylinders, illuminated by a modulated light beam. The method is based on the expansion of plane and cylindrical thermal waves, in series of Bessel and Hankel functions. Firstly, the work shows the model of propaga

15. Effect of a high fat diet on mitochondria: bioenergetics, K+ transport and redox state / Efeito de dietas hiperlipídicas sobre mitocôndrias de fígado de camundongos: bioenergética, transporte de K+ e estudo redox
Obesity is associated with multiple dysfunctions including dyslipidemia, insulin resistance and diabetes. These malfunctions are associated with modifications in mitochondrial physiology. Furthermore, mitochondria are the most important site of energy metabolism and reactive oxygen species production. Alberici et al. (2006) demonstrated that hypertriglycerid

16. A multiparton model for pp / p$\bar{p}$ inelastic scattering
We have applied a geometrical approach to study pp / p$\bar{p}$ inelastic scattering over the range of center mass energies from 44.5 to 900 GeV. The multiplicity distributions are described by multiple parton-parton collisions without free parameters. The output seems to be consistent with data and the results are discussed. Exploring the possible connectio

17. Radiative transfer model for regular and discontinuous canopies (GRART): application in tree coffee canopies / Modelo de transferência radiativa para dosséis descontínuos regulares (GRART): aplicação para dosséis de café
Regularly displaced discontinuous plant stands such as coffee tree stands, citrus orchards, eucalyptus forests and annual crops at the beginning of their phenological cycle (row structured) are known as highly anisotropic remote sensing targets. Operational parameter estimate upon this kind of remote sensing targets requires a physically-based canopy reflect

18. Multiple scattering theory for pion-nucleus elastic scattering and the in-medium piN amplitude
Elastic scattering of positive and/or negative pions (pi+ and/or pi-) by nuclei has been studied by means of Glauber's multiple scattering theory (GMST). The differential, total and total elastic cross sections using both the full series expansion and the first order correction (called optical limit results, OLA) of the Glauber amplitude, have been calculate

19. Jet physics in ep collisions
The most recent results of jet cross section measurements at HERA collider in photoproduction and deep inelastic scattering are presented. The forward jet and multiple jet productions are discussed from point of view of QCD dynamics. Results of precise extractions of the strong coupling alphas are presented.

20. Avaliação de dados SAR polarimétricos para estimativa volumétrica de florestas tropicais / Polarimetric SAR data analysis for tropical forest volume estimation
In this study it was evaluated the potential of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) data for the retrieval of timber volume over tropical forests, with sights to identify areas with potential for sustainable timber production. As a secondary focus, it was made a sensitivity analysis of the PolSAR data in detecting floristic and structural variatio

21. Trajectory effects in coulomb excitation
We compare the cross sections for Coulomb excitation of multiple giant dipole resonances in 208Pb + 208Pb scattering using Coulomb trajectories and straight-line trajectories that have the same point of closest approach as the Coulomb one. We find the effects of the Coulomb deflection relative to the straight line trajectory to be small at incident energies

22. Proton CT setup at CV-28 of IEN/CNEN
Although the idea of proton Computed Tomography (pCT) is not new, it is currently not available. It is still unknown if the image quality of pCT is sufficient for localizing tumors and if the accuracy of proton range calculations surpass that of X-ray CT based range calculations without significantly increasing the patient exposure. The spatial resolution of

23. "Espalhamento Compton e medida absoluta da energia de fótons marcados - Uma simulação Monte Carlo" / Compton scattering and absolute measurement of tagged photon energies.
A simulation based on Monte Carlo methods was created in order to evaluate the potentiality of using Compton scattering at high energies to obtain high precision absolute measurements of tagged photon energies. This method is based on angular measurements of the scattering products to reconstruct the incident photon energy using the kinematics of Compton sca

24. Local order in the transition a-Si:H - uc-Si / Ordem local na transição a-Si:H - uc-Si
