1. Hybrid Transthoracic Periventricular Device Closure of Ventricular Septal Defects: Single-Center Experience
Abstract Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of hybrid transthoracic periventricular device closure of ventricular septal defects (VSDs) in a single center. Methods: All patients who underwent hybrid transthoracic periventricular device closure of VSDs between January 2018 and December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The preoperative, operative and pos

2. Minithoracotomy vs. Conventional Mitral Valve Surgery for Rheumatic Mitral Valve Stenosis: a Single-Center Analysis of 128 Patients
Abstract Objective: To compare the in-hospital outcomes of a right-sided anterolateral minithoracotomy with those of median sternotomy in patients who received a mitral valve replacement (MVR) because of rheumatic mitral valve stenosis (RMS). Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 128 patients (34% male) with RMS between 2011 and 2015. The median age

3. Bovine Pericardial Patch Augmentation of One Insufficient Aortic Valve Cusp with Twenty-three-year Positive Clinical Follow-up Independent of the Patch Degeneration
Abstract Scientific progress shall ultimately boost the current acceptance level for conservative aortic valve surgery. The present text aimed to report the 23-year long-term follow-up of one patient operated with bovine pericardium cusp extension. Growing confidence in the efficacy of the operation will allow a more expeditious indication for surgical treat

5. Use of Bovine Pericardium and Sutureless Biological Glue in Left Ventricular Rupture After Mitral Valve Replacement, Five Years of Follow-up
ABSTRACT Rupture of the left ventricular wall after mitral valve replacement is an infrequent but lethal complication. Reporting correction technique of ventricular rupture with bovine pericardium patch secured with glue and without suturing: a 51 years-old female patient, with double rheumatic mitral lesion, severe stenosis and discrete insufficiency, who h

6. Percutaneous transarterial balloon dilatation of the mitral valve: five year experience.
OBJECTIVE--To examine the value of transarterial balloon dilatation of the mitral valve for treatment of patients with mitral stenosis over a period of five years. DESIGN--Analysis of patients' functional state, and haemodynamic and echocardiographic variables, before and immediately after the procedure and during a follow up of up to five years. SETTING--A

7. Repair of Congenital Malformations of the Mitral Valve in Children: Early and Long-term Results in 34 Cases
From March 1972 through December 1986, 34 children underwent surgical treatment of mitral valve dysplasia at our institution. There were 14 males and 20 females, with a mean age of 6 years (range, 5 months to 15 years). Eighteen patients had significant mitral valve insufficiency; 16 had significant mitral valve stenosis. Mitral valve reconstruction was poss

8. Right Ventricular and Septal Anomalies Complicated by Subacute Bacterial Endocarditis
We report the case of a 31-year-old woman with no history of heart disease. She came to the hospital with fever, dyspnea, palpitation, and edema of the lower extremities. She was found to have aortic, mitral, and pulmonary valve insufficiency, and the initial diagnosis was subacute bacterial endocarditis. At surgery, we replaced the aortic and mitral valves
