13. Bioflotation of apatite and quartz: Particle size effect on the rate constant
This work deals with the fundamental aspects of apatite and quartz bioflotation using R. opacus bacteria as a bioreagent. It was observed that the flotability of both minerals depends on the pH value and the mineral particle size. The maximum flotability of both minerals was presented at a pH value of 5, achieving values of 90% and 14% for apatite and quartz

14. Synthesis, Characterization and Applications of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles - a Short Review
ABSTRACT: Iron oxide is a mineral compound that shows different polymorphic forms, including hematite (α-Fe2O3), magnetite (Fe3O4) and maghemite (γ-Fe2O3). Solid propulsion technology nanoparticulate materials, such as hematite and maghemite, exhibit high performance on thermal decomposition of ammonium perchlorate. The enhanced catalytic effect of metalli

15. Limestone particle size and artificial light for laying hens in the second laying cycle
The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of limestone particle size and the use of artificial light for laying hens in the second laying cycle. We used 240 Hisex White laying hens at 82 weeks of age in a completely randomized design in a 5 × 2 factorial arrangement, resulting in 10 treatments with 4 replicates of 6 birds. The variables were the

16. Valores de referência para metais potencialmente tóxicos em sedimentos e em moluscos filtradores no Rio Ribeira de Iguape / Reference values to potentially toxic metals in sediments and mussels in the River Ribeira de Iguape
The Ribeira do Iguape River Basin (RIRB) was historically influenced by intense mining activities mainly related to lead (Pb) extraction. For many decades, such exploitation was conducted under rudimentary conditions without control of environmental impacts produced during the stages of ore extraction and beneficiation. Thus, mining wastes and metallurgical

17. Synthesis and characterization of nanocrystalline hydroxyapatite gel and its application as scaffold aggregation
The sol-gel process is a technique used to synthesize materials from colloidal suspensions and, therefore, is suitable for preparing materials in the nanoscale. In this work hydroxyapatite was used due to its known properties in tissue engineering. Hydroxyapatite Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 is a bioactive ceramic which is found in the mineral phase of bone tissue and is

18. Caracterização tecnológica do Itabirito pobre compacto IPC da Mina Casa de Pedra
This study presents the mineralogical and technological characterization of the Itabirito Pobre Compacto - IPC s of Mina Casa de Pedra. The IPC is a material with average iron content of 42% and has high mechanical strength. The combination of these characteristics makes it impossible to processing this material in the processing plant of the Casa de Pedra,

19. PELLETIZING AND REDUCING OF MAGNETITE CONCENTRATE / PELOTIZAÇÃO E REDUÇÃO DE CONCENTRADO MAGNETÍTICO
The global increasing trend of producing iron ore fines (sinter feed and pellet feed) has also increased the importance of the agglomeration processes, in particular the pelletizing, which has as main characteristic to produce high quality pellets with excellent mechanical resistance, besides being a less polluting process than the sintering. Currently, Braz

22. Effect of steatite waste additions on the physical and mechanical properties of clay composites
Mineral rock wastes are being widely investigated due to possible damage to the environment when discarded indiscriminately in the nature, but also because of their great potential as ceramic raw materials. This work aims to study the effect of steatite particle additions on the mechanical properties of clay composites. A comprehensive series of experiments

The petroleum industry produces significant amounts of residues in several of its processes, from the perforation of wells, production, storage, transport and refining, to the distribution of its derivatives. The wastewater generated in the oil extraction step is known as produced water and, when stored in flotation tanks, if generates a residue called oily
