13. Soil compaction on traffic lane due to soil tillage and sugarcane mechanical harvesting operations
ABSTRACT: Mechanical sugarcane harvesting increases soil compaction due to the intense traffic of agricultural machinery, reducing longevity of sugarcane crops. In order to mitigate the harmful effects caused by agricultural traffic on the soil structure in sugarcane fields, this study evaluated impacts of mechanical sugarcane harvesting on traffic lane unde

14. Modeling and Experimental Validation of Two Adjacent Portal Frame Structures Subjected to Vibro-impact
Abstract In many engineering applications, there are systems that exhibit a series of collisions in a certain amount of time, for example the impact of floating ice in ships and the rubbing between stationary and rotary parts in turbomachinery. In many of these situations, it is of vital importance to know how the impacts affect the overall system behavior f

16. Characterization of different techniques for obtaining minced fish from tilapia waste
Abstract The majority of tilapia farming is used for the production of fillets, resulting in the generation of waste that can be used to increase food stocks by producing minced fish. The aim of this study was to characterize and evaluate the viability of boiling and mechanical techniques for obtaining minced fish in relation to performance, physical-chemic

17. Straw removal of sugarcane from soil and its impacts on yield and industrial quality ratoons
ABSTRACT: Mechanical harvesting leaves in its wake a considerable amount of straw in the field, which can be effectively utilized to improve the soil condition and sugarcane yield. However, there is no specific information as to the quantity of straw mulch required to achieve such effects and as to whether it can be used in other sectors for bioelectricity a

18. Polyhydroxybutyrate Composites with Random Mats of Sisal and Coconut Fibers
Biodegradable polymeric composites using natural fibers have been investigated aiming to mitigate environmental impacts. In this paper, polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) composites obtained using random mats of sisal and coconut fibers by compression molding in a hydraulic press, and the fiber content varied between 10% and 15% relative to the weight of the polymer.

19. Clinical and microbiological features of infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa in patients hospitalized in intensive care units
Abstract: INTRODUCTION: The spread of multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Brazilian hospitals has greatly impacted upon the morbidity and mortality of individuals in intensive care units. Given the lack of information regarding the dynamics of multidrug resistance in northern Brazil, we analyzed the clinical and microbiological features of nosocom

20. Mechanical properties and impact behavior of a microcellular structural foam
Structural foams are a relatively new class of materials with peculiar characteristics that make them very attractive in some energy absorption applications. They are currently used for packaging to protect goods from damage during transportation in the case of accidental impacts. Structural foams, in fact, have sufficient mechanical strength even with reduc

21. Use of dentifrices to prevent erosive tooth wear: harmful or helpful?
Dental erosion is the loss of dental hard tissues caused by non-bacterial acids. Due to acid contact, the tooth surface becomes softened and more prone to abrasion from toothbrushing. Dentifrices containing different active agents may be helpful in allowing rehardening or in increasing surface resistance to further acidic or mechanical impacts. However, dent

22. Application of bauxite waste from amazon region in the heavy clay industry
In this work, a method was developed for the application of red mud, an alkaline leaching waste, from a bauxite processing plant located in northern Brazil (Amazon region) as starting material for heavy clay products. Samples were prepared by pressing blends of red mud and clay, which were then fired at temperatures from 900 ºC to 1190 ºC. Characterization

23. AVALIAÇÃO DO EQUILÍBRIO POSTURAL EM MULHERES COM DOR CERVICAL / BALANCE POSTURAL ASSESSMENT IN WOMEN WITH NECK PAIN
Neck pain has been considered a costly musculoskeletal problem, with impacts on health and quality of life of individuals may be related to repetitive strain and maintenance of postures. These changes cause mechanical and nociceptive disorders of the neck region may cause balance disorders. Maintenance of postural balance occurs through the action of the pos

24. Influência do pH e da irradiação em filmes biodegradáveis de proteínas do soro de leite / Influence of ph and irradiation in whey proteins biodegradable films
The packaging has as main function to maintain the integrity of the product, protecting it against mechanical damage, moisture loss and gain. Most packaging is manufactured from non-biodegradable materials and non-renewable source promoting great environmental impacts. Among the raw materials used in the development of biodegradable films found the whey prot
