1. Estimating Poisson pseudo-maximum-likelihood rather than log-linear model of a log-transformed dependent variable
Abstract Purpose The purpose of this study is to account for a recent non-mainstream econometric approach using microdata and how it can inform research in business administration. More specifically, the paper draws from the applied microeconometric literature stances in favor of fitting Poisson regression with robust standard errors rather than the OLS lin

2. Genetic parameters, genetic trends, and principal component analysis for productive and reproductive traits of Guzera beef cattle
ABSTRACT The objectives of this study were to estimate genetic parameters and genetic trends and perform principal component analysis for the following traits: body weight adjusted at 210 days of age (W210), one year (W365), and yearling or 450 days of age (W450); weight gain from birth to weaning or 210 days of age (WGBW), from weaning to 365 days of age (W

4. Estimation of genetic parameters for weight traits and Kleiber Index in a Brahman cattle population
ABSTRACT: Interest in improving feed efficiency of cattle has been increasing. The residual feed intake (RFI), the most commonly used measurement of feed efficiency, is expensive and can only be used in a small number of animals. The Kleiber Index has also been proposed to measure RFI. In this study, we estimated genetic parameters for the Kleiber Index aver

5. Heritability of advertisement call properties of the Japanese quail

7. SOME COMPUTATIONAL ASPECTS TO FIND ACCURATE ESTIMATES FOR THE PARAMETERS OF THE GENERALIZED GAMMA DISTRIBUTION
ABSTRACT In this paper, we discuss computational aspects to obtain accurate inferences for the parameters of the generalized gamma (GG) distribution. Usually, the solution of the maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) for the GG distribution have no stable behavior depending on large sample sizes and good initial values to be used in the iterative numerical alg

8. Genetic associations between reproductive and linear-type traits of Holstein cows in Brazil
ABSTRACT This study aimed to estimate heritability, genetic, and residual correlations between reproductive traits such as age at first calving, calving interval, dry period, and first service period and linear type traits measured in Holstein cows born between the years 1990 and 2008 in Brazil. The (co)variance components were estimated by restricted maximu

9. ON HYPOTHESIS TESTS FOR COVARIANCE MATRICES UNDER MULTIVARIATE NORMALITY
In this paper we proposed a new statistical test for testing the covariance matrix in one population under multivariate normal assumption. In general, the proposed and the likelihood-ratio tests resulted in larger values of estimated powers than VMAX for bivariate and trivariate cases. VMAX was not sensitive to general changes in the covariance (correlation)

10. Genetic and environmental variance and covariance parameters for some reproductive traits of Holstein and Jersey cattle in Antioquia (Colombia)
The objective of this study was to estimate the genetic, phenotypic and environmental parameters for calving interval (CI), days open (DO), number of services per conception (NSC) and conception rate (CR) in Holstein and Jersey cattle in Antioquia (Colombia). Variance and covariance component estimates were obtained by an animal model that was solved using t

11. The influence of animals from embryo transfer on the genetic evaluation of growth in Simmental beef cattle by using multi-trait models
The weight records from Simmental beef cattle were used in a genetic evaluation of growth with or without the inclusion of animals obtained by embryo transfer. A multi-trait model in which embryo transfer individuals were excluded (MTM1) contained 29,510 records from 10,659 animals, while another model without exclusion of these animals (MTM2) contained 62,8

12. Modelagem estatística de extremos espaciais com base em processos max-stable aplicados a dados meteorológicos no estado do Paraná / Statistical modelling of spatial extremes based on max-stable processes applied to environmental data in the Parana State
The most mathematical models developed for rare events are based on probabilistic models for extremes. Although the tools for statistical modeling of univariate and multivariate extremes are well-developed, the extension of these tools to model spatial extremes data is currently a very active area of research. Modeling of maximum values under the spatial dom
