The fast expansion of the maxilla is a treatment quite used in Orthodontics, for the correction of transversal discrepancies and it provides a better adaptation of the tongue due to the bone increase of the palatal arch, as well as a better nasal breathing. However, the vertical dental skeletal alterations produced by this therapeutic method are questioned.
