1. Inhibitory Effects of the Lipophilic Extracts and An Isolated Meroditerpene of Brown Alga in Pasture Weeds in the Eastern Amazon Region

2. Multiple Monohydroxylation Products from rac-Camphor by Marine Fungus Botryosphaeria sp. Isolated from Marine Alga Bostrychia radicans
This manuscript describes the biooxidation of rac-camphor using whole cells of marine-derived fungus Botryosphaeria sp. CBMAI 1197. The main biotransformation products of this monoterpene were achieved via a hydroxylation reaction and occurred with 5 days of rac-camphor incubation. Products were identified by means of gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC

3. Proteomic analysis of halotolerant proteins under high and low salt stress in Dunaliella salina using two-dimensional differential in-gel electrophoresis
Abstract Dunaliella salina, a single-celled marine alga with extreme salt tolerance, is an important model organism for studying fundamental extremophile survival mechanisms and their potential practical applications. In this study, two-dimensional differential in-gel electrophoresis (2D-DIGE) was used to investigate the expression of halotolerant proteins u

4. Antibacterial, antifungal and cytotoxic activities exhibited by endophytic fungi from the Brazilian marine red alga Bostrychia tenella (Ceramiales)
Abstract Marine environment is one of the most important sources regarding natural products research. Besides, marine microorganisms have been denominated as a talented natural source for discovery of new leads. Although the association of macroalgae and fungi has been described regarding ecological issues, there is a lack of studies about marine seaweed end

5. Intraspecific variation of meroditerpenoids in the brown alga Stypopodium zonale guiding the isolation of new compounds
Abstract Intraspecific variation on meroditerpenoids production by the brown marine alga Stypopodium zonale at four different populations along the Brazilian coast was analyzed using Principal Component Analysis over high-performance liquid chromatography profiles from algae extracts. The ordination of the samples by the similarities of their chromatographic

6. A voltammetric study on the adsorption of Cd(II) and Zn(II) on marine microalgae Tetraselmis gracilis (Kylin) butcher

7. Habitat and food selection by herbivorous amphipods associated with macroalgal beds on the southeast coast of Brazil
The factors that influence the selection of marine macrophytes by meso-herbivores are complex, and may include the nutritional quality of algae, the value of the habitat as a shelter, and the availability of algae in the environment. Here we investigated the existence of differential use of Sargassum filipendula C. Agardh, 1824 (Phaeophyta) and Galaxaura stu

8. Extraction of alginate biopolymer present in marine alga sargassum filipendula and bioadsorption of metallic ions
This paper studies the bioadsorption of Pb2+, Cu2+, Cd2+ and Zn2+ ions by marine alga Sargassum filipendula and by the alginate biopolymer extracted from this alga. The objective is to evaluate the importance of this biopolymer in removing different metallic ions by the marine alga S. filipendula. In the equilibrium study, the same affinity order was observe

10. Estudo ficoquímico da alga marinha Sargassum vulgare var. nanum E. de Paula (Sargassaceae) do litoral paraibano / PHYCOCHEMICAL STUDY OF MARINE ALGA Sargassum vulgare var. nanum E. de PAULA (SARGASSACEAE) from the coast of Paraíba
