1. Antilocalization effect on photo-generated carriers in semi-insulating GaAs sample
Magnetoresistance measurements were performed on an illuminated semi-insulating GaAs sample with intrinsic deep level defects. Electrical carriers were photo-generated under light excitation and positive magnetoresistance for B < 0.2 T was observed in the whole range of temperatures measured (220-315 K). Using the model developed by H. Fukuyama and K. Hoshin

2. INVESTIGATION ON THE MAGNETORESISTANCE EFFECT IN ORGANIC SEMICONDUCTORS USING THE MAGNETIC FIELD MODULATION TECHNIQUE / ESTUDO DO EFEITO DE MAGNETORESISTÊNCIA EM SEMICONDUTORES ORGÂNICOS UTILIZANDO A TÉCNICA DE MODULAÇÃO DO CAMPO MAGNÉTICO

3. Controle de Corrente de Spin em Pontos Quânticos na Presença de Tensões de Porta Moduladas no Tempo
Since Loss &DiVincenzo proposal to use confined electron spins in quantum dots (QDs) as a building block for qubits in solid state systems, spin-dependent transport in QDs has attracted a lot of attention. The interest for this system increased even further with the recent experimental developments to coherently control (initialization-manipulation-read out)

4. CRESCIMENTO DE FILMES FINOS DE Ni81Fe19 PARA APLICAÇÕES ENVOLVENDO MAGNETORRESISTÊNCIA ANISOTRÓPICA / GROWTH OF THIN FILMS OF Ni81Fe19 TO APLICATIONS ENVOLVING ANISOTROPIC MAGNETORESISTANCE
Estes dispositivos normalmente possuem a estrutura Ta/Ni

5. Comparison of computed amplitudes of magnetoresistance in spin-valve structures with wafer probe measurements
A code has been developed based on the semi-classical theory of giant magnetoresistance of Camley and Barnas [l]. It computes the sheet conductance and magnetoresistance of spin-valve structures. The input parameters are phenomenological transport parameters (mean-free paths and reflection/transmission coefficients at interfaces). These parameters are fairly

6. Multicamadas Ferromagnéticas Nanométricas Periódicas e Quasiperiódicas
We present a study of nanostructured magnetic multilayer systems in order to syn- thesize and analyze the properties of periodic and quasiperiodic structures. This work evolved from the deployment and improvement of the sputtering technique in our labora- tories, through development of a methodology to synthesize single crystal ultrathin Fe (100) films, to t

7. Andreev transport in double quantum dots coupled to superconductor and ferromagnetic leads / Transporte por reflexão de Andreev em pontos quanticos duplos acoplados a eletrodos supercondutores e ferromagneticos
In this work we studied the quantum transport in two hybrid nanostructures composed of double quantum dots (DQD)s coupled to superconductor (S) and ferromagnetic (F) leads. The first nanostructure, denoted by F - QDa - QDb - S, is composed of a ferromagnet, two quantum dots, and a superconductor connected in series. In the second nanostructure, denoted by (

8. Estudo da mobilidade em dispositivos SOI planares e de múltiplas portas. / Study of carriers mobility in planar and multiple gate SOI devices.

For many decades the transition metal oxides are subject of great scientific interest because of the wide variety of interesting physical properties and their potential technological applications. More recently, for example, oxides of transition metals with multiferroic properties have been considered as potential magneto-electronic devices. Many transition

10. Magnetotransporte em poços-quânticos de AlGaAs/GaAs com diferentes formas de potencial / Magnetotransport in AlGzAs/GzAs quantum wells with different potential shapes
In this thesis we present studies of magnetotransport in double quantum wells (DQWs) in low magnetic fields and under application of an external electric field (gate potential). Measurements of magnetoresistance have been carried out in both linear and non-linear regime. We report on the observation of magneto-intersubband (MIS) oscillations for the first ti

In order to verify the existence of superconducting correlations in graphite, in this work we studied the possibility of the so-called giant proximity effect in highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) samples. Magnetoresistance measurements performed on various thoroughly characterized HOPG samples with attached superconducting In or Pb-In electrodes revea

12. Ruido no transporte eletronico em sistemas mesoscopicos / Noise in the electronic transport in mesoscopic systems
This dissertation describes the fundamental caracteristics of mesoscopic conductors, and the origins and properties of the sources of noise in conductors. Firstly, we describe the noise through different methods and emphasize the properties of each kind of noise. In the following, we present the scattering approach for coherent phase conductors, which allows
