13. Mapeamento de locos de resistência quantitativa a Puccinia psidii Winter em uma progênie de irmãos completos de eucalipto / Mapping of quantitative resistance loci against Puccinia psidii Winter in a full-sib progeny of Eucalyptus
In Brazil, the eucalyptus rust, caused by Puccinia psidii Winter, stands out as the most important disease of eucalypts, mainly in southeastern Brazil. The use of resistant genotypes is the main control method, which makes the understanding of the genetic basis of resistance essential to the selection of resistant genotypes. In this study, an F1 progeny of 9

14. Distribution of recombination rates across the chromosome 4 of Arabidopsis thaliana and its association with genomic features / Distribuição de taxas de recombinação ao longo do cromossomo 4 de Arabidopsis thaliana e sua associação com elementos genômicos
Recombination is one of the most important factors in the evolution of genome organization. It provides the links between homologous chromosomes that ensure their proper segregation during the first meiotic division. It is responsible for the creation of novel allele combinations and yields genetic diversity on which evolutionary selection can act. Double-st

15. Estudo populacional de Stramonita haemastoma (Gastropoda, Prosobranchia) / A population study of Stramonita haemastoma (Gastropoda, Prosobranchia))
In this study, Stramonita haemastoma individuals, a gastropod who inhabits marine rocky shores, were analysed through isozymes electrophoresys and traditional morphometrics. Nine localities in the brazilian shore, extending from Santa Catarina to Rio de Janeiro were sampled. In a preliminary study, a genetic distinction in two different groups was detected.

16. Análise genética de espécies arbóreas de um remanescente da Mata Atlântica "Parque Estadual Mata dos Godoy" em Londrina-PR, por marcadores moleculares de AFLP e Microssatélites
The intense fragmentation process of the tropical forests is one of the most important issues of the XXI century, being directly responsible for environmental degradation, climate changes and the loss of biodiversity. Such process is the focus of many studies that intend, primarily, to identify the effect of devastation in the gene pool of species that occup

17. Genetic mapping of locus 1q 24.2 1q 31.3 in families segregating aggressive periodontitis / Mapeamento Genético do locus 1q 24.2 1q31.3 em famílias segregando periodontite agressiva

In Brazil, the soybean rust, caused by Phakopsora pachyrhizi, has caused yield losses and increased the cost of production by the intensive use of fungicides in soybean fields. The use of resistant varieties is an important tool to control the disease. Currently five different loci have been reported containing genes for resistance to disease, called rpp1 to

19. Linkage disequilibrium, genetic association mapping and gene localization in crop plants
DNA-based molecular markers have been extensively utilized for a variety of studies in both plant and animal systems. One of the major uses of these markers is the construction of genome-wide molecular maps and the genetic analysis of simple and complex traits. However, these studies are generally based on linkage analysis in mapping populations, thus placin

20. Genetic epidemiology of malaria infection at Rondônia. / Genética epidemiológica de malária em Rondônia.
With the aim of investigate the genetic mechanisms related to the human response to malaria infection, two Amazonian populations were studied. About 180 individuals from Portuchuelo population and more than 800 individuals from Monte Negro were included in the sample. Those individuals where subjected to an epidemiological survey, followed by characterizatio

21. Disturbios do desenvolvimento cortical e epilepsia autossomica dominante com auras auditivas : estudos geneticos e moleculares / Malformations of cortical development and autosomal dominant partial epilepsy with auditory features
Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) and malformations of cortical development (MCD) are two of the most important causes of epilepsy. Extensive molecular genetic studies have resulted in gene discovery for MCD such as periventricular nodular heterotopia (PNH), lisencephaly/ subcortical band heterotopia spectrum (LIS-SBH), schizencephaly, polymicrogyria and for a su

22. Microsatellite variability analysis in farmed catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) from Tamaulipas, Mexico
Analysis of cultured catfish from six farms in Tamaulipas, Mexico was achieved using a combination of microsatellite PCR analysis and semiautomatic fluoresce-based detection, in order to provide a first assessment of the genetic variability on cultured catfish in Mexico. Five microsatellites showed extensive polymorphism with allele numbers ranging from 10 a

The aim of this work was the construction of a genomic microsatelliteenriched library for the species Haematobia irritans irritans (Diptera: Muscidae), commonly known as orn fly an ectoparasite of great economic importance world-wide, and particularly in Brazil. Here we describe ten polymorphic microsatellite loci isolated from this species. From a complete

24. Molecular and genetics evolution of the period gene population and multilocus analysis of introgression in Phlebotomine sandflies (Diptera: Psychodidae: Phlebotomina) / Evolução molecular e genética de populações do gene period e análise multilocus da introgressão em flebotomíneos neotropicais (Diptera: Psychodidae: Phlebotominae)
Phlebotomine sandflies (Diptera: Psychodidae) are the only insects incriminated as vectors of leishmaniasis in the World. In this thesis, the clock gene period was used as a marker in molecular evolution and population genetics studies in neotropical sandflies. A multilocus analysis was also performed to investigate the occurrence of introgression. In the mo
