1. Relationships between labile soil organic carbon fractions under different soil management systems
ABSTRACT The study of labile carbon fractions (LCF) provides an understanding of the behavior of soil organic matter (SOM) under different soil management systems and cover crops. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of different soil management systems with respect to tillage, cover crop and phosphate fertilization on the amount of the LCF of SOM.

2. Changes in Soil Organic Carbon Fractions in Response to Cover Crops in an Orange Orchard
ABSTRACT The cultivation of cover crops intercropped with fruit trees is an alternative to maintain mulch cover between plant rows and increase soil organic carbon (C) stocks. The objective of this study was to evaluate changes in soil total organic C content and labile organic matter fractions in response to cover crop cultivation in an orange orchard. The

3. Distribution of soil organic carbon fractions in old-growth forests in the Amazon Basin: the role of soil properties, leaf litter quality and climate / Distribuição das frações do carbono orgânico nos solos de florestas maduras na Bacia Amazônica: o papel das propriedades do solo, da qualidade da liteira e do clima
Soil organic carbon (SOC) stability is a function of environmental and biological conditions such as edaphic factors, climate and organic matter quality. Considering that a wide variation occurs in all these parameters across Amazonia, one could expect that there should be systematic variations in SOC fractions across the area. Understand the processes invol

4. Organic matter in Albaqualf as affected by managements irrigated rice cropping systems the South from Brazil / Matéria orgânica em Planossolo Háplico sob sistemas de manejo no cultivo do arroz irrigado no Sul do Brasil
In the south region from Rio Grande do Sul State, in,Brazil, 950 thousand hectares of soils are cultivated with rice, an important agricultural activity in that region, under an irrigation (flooded) system, using different soil management techniques. Studies regarding the organic matter (OM) dynamic in these soils are incipient, so this work aimed to evaluat

5. Caracterização da serrapilheira em caatinga preservada e mudanças no carbono do solo após o desmatamento sem queima
The Caatinga, a semi-arid ecoregion, is one of the most endangered Brazilian biome and transformed by human action. Despite its significant socioeconomic and environmental importance, few studies are directed to the sustainable management of this ecosystem. Accordingly, research related to the litter storage on the soil surface, total organic carbon (TOC) an

6. Carbon and nitrogen in the soil under different uses and managements and your modelling by the Century / Carbono e nitrogênio no solo sob diferentes usos e manejos e sua modelagem pelo Century
Every change in the use and management can induce alterations in the C and N stocks of the soil. In this sense, this study was carried out to verify those alterations in the different use and management systems, as well as the capacity of the Century model to simulating those alterations, by comparing the measured stocks with the simulated ones. In Paracatú

7. Nitrogen Fixation Associated with the New Zealand Mangrove (Avicennia marina (Forsk.) Vierh. var. resinifera (Forst. f.) Bakh.)
Nitrogenase activity in mangrove forests at two locations in the North Island, New Zealand, was measured by acetylene reduction and 15N2 uptake. Nitrogenase activity (C2H2 reduction) in surface sediments 0 to 10 mm deep was highly correlated (r = 0.91, n = 17) with the dry weight of decomposing particulate organic matter in the sediment and was independent o
