13. Breeding, growth and exploitation of Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii Castelnau, 1855 in the Caqueta River, Colombia
The main life history traits of the large Amazonian migratory catfish Brachyplatystoma rousseauxii were determined in the Caqueta River, Colombia. The breeding season occurred during the rising and falling water periods. The size at first sexual maturity was significantly larger for females (88.5 cm Ls) than males (81.7 cm). Both males and females reproduce

14. Biology and life table of Dirphia araucariae (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae): A herbivore of potentially high impact on Araucaria angustifolia
The life-history and biology of Dirphia araucariae Jones, 1908, including its life fertility table, are here described. Moths were reared in the laboratory under controlled conditions on their host plant, Araucaria angustifolia (Bertoloni) O. Kuntze - Araucariaceae. We describe several life-history traits of the species, namely: developmental period, surviva

15. Assessment of sábalo (Prochilodus lineatus) fisheries in the lower Paraná River basin (Argentina) based on hydrological, biological, and fishery indicators
This study assesses the change in fish exploitation patterns of the sábalo fisheries of the lower Paraná River basin based on hydrological, biological, and fishery indicators. From historical catch records, we recorded a shift from a lightly and moderate exploited status before 2001 to a heavily exploited one, as a result of the development of sábalo expo

16. Young religiosity in the far eastern of the city of São Paulo: implications of religiosity in daily life of the Assembly of God youth in the neighborhood of Sao Miguel Paulista / Religiosidade jovem no extremo leste da capital de São Paulo: implicações da religiosidade no cotidiano da juventude da Assembléia de Deus no bairro de São Miguel Paulista
This research is the result of inquiries made from how the Church looks to their young, and how this look helps them to engage and to relate in the society in which they live. When we investigate a church, which became Centennial in our country, the Assembly of God, we sought to understand what, from its formation, consolidation and institutionalization, she

17. Influência da agregação larval na história de vida de Ascia monuste orseis (Godart, 1819) (Lepidoptera, Pieridae) / Influence of larval aggregation on life-history traits of Ascia monuste orseis (Godart, 1819) (Lepidoptera, Pieridae)
In insects, the gregarious habit has been shown to improve foraging and defense against predation to both larval and adult stages. Egg clusters could also be beneficial through increased larval hatching. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that egg clusters and larval aggregations of the neotropical butterfly Ascia monuste orseis (Godart, 1819) (Pieridae

18. Vector biology prospects in dengue research
We argue that using more natural blood feeding methods to study mosquito vector competence for dengue viruses and exploring the effect of viral infection on other mosquito life-history traits that influence vectorial capacity will significantly advance our understanding of dengue epidemiology.

19. Latitudinal disparity in the reproductive cycle of sharpnose shark, Rhizoprionodon lalandii (Elasmobranchii: Carcharhinidae), in Atlantic waters off South America
Geographical variation in biophysical conditions may strongly influence the life history characteristics of widely distributed species, such as the Brazilian sharpnose shark, Rhizoprionodon lalandii (Müller & Henle, 1839). Here, we use original and secondary data of reproductive traits of R. lalandii to identify population differences among northern/northea

21. Population ecology of small rodents and marsupials in a semi-deciduous tropical forest of the southeast Pantanal, Brazil
The Pantanal is a South American biome characterized by extensive plains and stark environmental seasonality. Several habitats are subject to annual flooding, forcing small mammal species to aggregate in dry forest patches, which most likely influences their population dynamics and life history strategies. In order to investigate the seasonal influence on th

22. Recent advances in the study of avian malaria: an overview with an emphasis on the distribution of Plasmodium spp in Brazil
Avian malaria parasites (Plasmodium) have a worldwide distribution except for Antarctica. They are transmitted exclusively by mosquito vectors (Diptera: Culicidae) and are of particular interest to health care research due to their phylogenetic relationship with human plasmodia and their ability to cause avian malaria, which is frequently lethal in non-adapt

23. A vida e as fontes da normatividade: por uma história natural do conceito / Life and the sources of normativity: a natural history of concept
The philosophical position called semantic externalism is characterized by the thesis according to which the individuation of the content of mental states must make reference to traits that cannot be placed inside the sphere usually circumscribed by the very notion of mind. Such a thesis implies, anyway, that the supposed interiority of the psychological lif

24. Quando Narciso acha feio o que é espelho: o sofrimento do sujeito contemporâneo no adoecimento dermatológico / When Narcissus finds its ugly what he sees in the mirror: the suffering of contemporary subjects in dermatologic illness
This work is about reflections concerning some actual questions which are raised with contemporary subjects based on a comprehension of history and psychoanalytics, stress of the physical experience; and the relationship of skin and falling ill. It is proposed to investigate the contemporary implications in subjective organization prior to the suffering derm
