1. Radiation Balance and Partitioning of Latent and Sensible Heat Fluxes Over a Lime Orchard in Eastern Amazon
Abstract We investigate the balance of radiation and energy over a lime orchard in Eastern Amazon and how it relates to environmental conditions. We found that lime trees aged between 6 and 7 years old reflect 11.0% to 14.5% of incoming shortwave radiation, and the latent heat flux corresponds to 57.6% and 66.6% of the daily net radiation in the dry season (

2. THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF TAMARIND SEEDS (Tamarindus indica L.)
ABSTRACT Tamarind is used in the food and pharmaceutical industry, and its seed is the main means for the reproduction of this species, thus justifying studies that ensure its post-harvest viability. This research aimed to study the thermodynamic properties of tamarind seeds as a function of the equilibrium moisture content. The experimental data of the wate

3. FITTINGS OF ADSORPTION ISOTHERM MODELS AND THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF URUNDAY SEEDS
ABSTRACT This study aimed to obtain and evaluate thermodynamic properties and hygroscopic equilibrium isotherms of urunday seeds as a function of air relative humidity and temperature, as well as identify the best-fitted mathematical models for adsorption phenomenon. A static-gravimetric method was used to obtain hygroscopic equilibrium moisture content. See

4. 3D numerical investigation of mixture formation and combustion in a DISI engine at part-load under stratified operation
This work investigates through numerical simulation, the operation of a big bore direct fuel injection spark ignition engine, at part load under stratified operation. It evaluates fuel-air mixture preparation and combustion process with the adoption of detailed chemical kinetics mechanisms for both Isooctane and Ethanol, and applying adaptive mesh refinement

5. Phase-Field Simulation for Non-isothermal Solidification of Al-Cu Binary Alloy
Based on the principle of dilute solution approximation, a phase field model for dendritic growth during the non-isothermal solidification process was proposed by coupling the phase field, concentration field and temperature field, and was adopted to investigate the dendritic growth of Al-Cu binary alloy during the non-isothermal solidification process. Also

7. Evaluation of OSEB and SEBAL models for energy balance of a crop area in a humid subtropical climate
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the adequacy of the One-Source Energy Balance (OSEB) and Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) models to estimate evapotranspiration in grain growing areas with humid subtropical climate in Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil. The dataset was obtained from a micrometeorological station (Eddy Covariance) and MODIS (Mod

8. Study of Microstructure and Thermal Properties of the Low Melting Bi-In-Sn Eutectic Alloys
Beside their technological importance in soldering, the low melting eutectic alloys based on bismuth and indium have potential for commercial application in the field of phase-change materials (PCMs). In this respect, the knowledge of their microstructure and thermal properties such as melting temperature, latent heat of melting, supercooling tendency, therm

9. Thermodynamic properties of Buriti (Mauritia flexuosa) tree gum
Abstract Moisture adsorption and desorption isotherms from buriti tree gum (BG) were obtained at different temperatures (25 to 55 °C) in a water activity range of 0.1 to 0.9. The isotherms were classified as type II. The hysteresis loop and moisture of the monolayer decreased as temperature increased and Halsey’s equation proved able to predict with good

10. GREEN ROOF: SIMULATION OF ENERGY BALANCE COMPONENTS IN RECIFE, PERNAMBUCO STATE, BRAZIL
ABSTRACT Green roof is a technology that consists of the use of soil and vegetation installed in the roof of buildings, being a great solution to combat heat islands. Thus, this study aimed to compare micrometeorological changes and their effect on the energy balance of non-vegetated (slab) and vegetated building roofs by means of a simulation model calculat

11. Energy balance partitioning and evapotranspiration from irrigated Muskmelon under Semi-Arid Conditions
ABSTRACT The Mossoró-Assu-Baraúna district, Rio Grande do Norte State (RN), is recognized by the intense production of horticulture, mainly muskmelon for export. However, this region is often devastated by intense droughts. Thus, the muskmelon production is predominantly under irrigated condition and, due to constant threat of water resources collapse on t

12. Modeling of the temperature field generated by the deposition of weld bead on a steel butt joint by FEM techniques and thermographic images.
The aim of this work is to predict the temperature field generated by welding a steel butt joint (API 5L X80). The prediction was modeled by finite element software Abaqus where the subroutine was developed in Fortran so that heat source motion may be included. The motion was based on the Goldak's double ellipsoid. In the model material nonlinearities were i
