13. Physicochemistry, microbiology, fatty acids composition and volatile profile of traditional Söğle tulum (goat’s skin bag) cheese
Abstract Söğle cheese is a type of traditional tulum (goat’s skin bag) cheese produced from goat’s milk or a mixture of goat’s and sheep’s milk in Küçük Söğle and Büyük Söğle villages, Antalya, Turkey. This is the first study that aimed to investigate the physicochemistry, microbiology, fatty acids composition and volatile profile of tradi

14. Ketalization of Ketones to 1,3-Dioxolanes and Concurring Self-Aldolization Catalyzed by an Amorphous, Hydrophilic SiO2-SO3H Catalyst under Microwave Irradiation
The amorphous, mesoporous SiO2-SO3H catalyst with a surface area of 115 m2 g-1 and 1.32 mmol H+ per g was very efficient for the protonation of ketones on a 10% (m/m) basis, and the catalyst-bound intermediates can be trapped by polyalcohols to produce ketals in high yields or suffer aldol condensations within minutes under low-power microwave irradiation. T

15. Red wine produced from the Isabella and Ives cultivar (Vitis Labrusca): profile of volatiles and aroma descriptors
Abstract Considering the potential consumption and economic the importance that Isabella and Ives wines represent in the Brazilian consumer market as well as the scarcity of scientific data examining their quality, the objective of this study was to investigate the sensory quality and the volatiles profile of these wines. The volatile compounds were extracte

16. Fast Screening of Solvents for Simultaneous Extraction of Furfural, 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural and Levulinic Acid from Aqueous Solution Using SMD Solvation Free Energies
Acid catalyzed decomposition of C5 and C6 sugars has been considered an important source of biomass derived chemicals. An essential step in this process is the extraction of furfural, hydroxymethylfurfural and levulinic acid from aqueous phase. In this work, a computational screening of 178 organic solvents for simultaneous extraction of these chemicals from

17. PROPIEDADES FISICOQUÍMICAS DE MIELES MONOFLORALES DE ENCENILLO DE LA ZONA ALTOANDINA EN BOYACÁ, COLOMBIA
Honey is the natural product with sweetening properties more widely known, is produced by bees from the nectar of flowers and secretions from the plants. Its physicochemical properties depend on the season of harvest, environmental factors prevailing in the harvest period and the biogeographic zones. The aim of this work was focused in honeys produced by Wei

18. Wood-associated fungi produce volatile organic compounds toxic to root-knot nematode
ABSTRACT Since volatiles do not leave residues in food and cause low toxicity to humans, they can act as a skeleton for new nematicidal molecules, once they have demonstrated activity against phytonematodes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released by wood-associated fungi on controling second-stage juven

19. Study of Reactions of Two Mannich Bases Derived of 4'-Hydroxychalcones with Glutathione by RP-TLC, RP-HPLC and RP-HPLC-ESI-MS Analysis
4'-Hydroxychalcones have been reported to possess several beneficial biological effects. Several lines of evidence accumulated to demonstrate increased biological activities of the Mannich base derivatives of the parent 4'-hydroxychalcones. Bioactivities of chalcones and related α,β-unsaturated ketones are frequently associated with their reactivity with c

20. Modelos estereoquímicos de adição à carbonila
The stereochemical control in the generation of new stereogenic centers is of paramount importance in organic chemistry. In this context, diastereoselective additions to carbonyl compounds bearing a stereogenic center at the α-position are of particular importance, since an increase in molecular complexity can be achieved by constructing a new bond, togethe

21. Blood metabolites as predictors to evaluate the body condition of Neopelma pallescens (Passeriformes: Pipridae) in northeastern Brazil
ABSTRACT Body condition is an important ecological attribute that can provide a measure of the energy stored by an animal or population. Body condition is traditionally ascertained with morphometric body condition indices (BCIs), but some researchers have used various physiological and biochemical parameters as predictors of body condition. This study aimed

22. GC×GC-TOF/MS Analysis of Bio-Oils Obtained from Pyrolysis of Acuri and Baru Residues
Bark of acuri and endocarp of baru are residues generated during the processing of these fruits. One alternative to consider is the pyrolysis of these materials to generate bio-oils, opening the perspective for the production of environment-friendly, added value products. Samples of acuri and baru were subjected to laboratorial scale pyrolysis. At the optimi

23. Optimization of the HS-SPME-GC/MS technique for the analysis of volatile compounds in caprine Coalho cheese using response surface methodology
Abstract Caprine Coalho cheese presents great potential for a typical protected designation of origin, considering that this traditional Brazilian cheese presents a slightly salty and acid flavor, combined with a unique texture. This study optimized the HS-SPME-GC-MS methodology for volatile analysis of Coalho cheese, which can be used as a tool to help in t

24. A Multicomponent Synthesis of 2-Amino-3-cyanopyridine Derivatives Catalyzed by Heterogeneous and Recyclable Copper Nanoparticles on Charcoal
An efficient and convenient method was developed for synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyanopyridine derivatives via the four-component coupling reaction between ketone, aldehyde, malononitrile, and ammonium acetate in the presence of 2 mol% copper nanoparticles on charcoal (Cu/C) catalyst. A variety of ketones and aldehydes was used to afford the corresponding product
