1. LARGE EDDY SIMULATION COMBINED WITH EQUIVALENT DIAMETER FOR TURBULENT JET MODELLING AND GAS DISPERSION
Abstract CFD modelling combines transport phenomena and numerical approaches to solve physical problems. Although numerical modelling of flow scenarios is the cutting edge of flow modelling, there seems to be room for improvement. This paper proposes an approach for jet modelling in a low Mach number computational code. The methodology is based on the equiva

2. Estagnação de massa de ar quente e seco sobre a região central do Brasil / Stagnation of warm and dry air masses in the central region of Brazil
In the Southeast Region, southern parts of Central-West and northern parts of South Regions, Stagnations of Warm and Dry Air Masses (EMAQS) occur between April and September months. They are characterized by positive temperature anomalies and negative precipitation anomalies, persisting for several days. This situation causes an increase in air pollution and

3. Uma metodologia para anÃlise das conseqÃÃncias de um blowout durante a perfuraÃÃo de poÃos offshore / A methodology for analysis of the consequences of one blowout during the perforation of wells offshore
The main safety concern during the drilling of oil wells is the possibility of blowout. A blowout is the release of hydrocarbons under pressure. In case that the immediate ignition of these hydrocarbons occurs, the expected fire is a jet fire. Jet fire are turbulent diffusion flames. Normally, the thermal energy released for the jet fire is very high and suf

4. Utilization of Magnesium Hydroxide Produced by Magnesia Hydration as Fire Retardant for Nylon 6-6,6
The present work investigates the use of magnesium hydroxide, produced by magnesia hydration, as a fire retardant in polymers. The hydration was carried out in an autoclave, at temperature of 130°C for 1 hour, and the product was further submitted to cominution in a jet mill. The solids were characterized with regard to their chemical composition, particle

5. Anestesia para microcirurgia do laringe com laser : avaliação de uma tecnica ventilatoria
The CO2 laser used in larynx microsurgery can determine ignition on the airway caused by high temperatures researched by tissue interactions or by reflective beam from surgical or anesthetic instruments. Ventilatory thecniques, intending to reduce the ignition risks by using endotracheal tubes protected with mettalic tapes or, even, by mettalics tubes, were

6. Manchester air disaster.
On 22 August 1985 a fire occurred on a Boeing 737 jet airliner at take off at Manchester Airport. One hundred and thirty seven passengers and crew were on board. Fifty two passengers died on the aircraft, 85 escaped. Most survivors had minor physical injuries, but 15 required admission to hospital because of smoke inhalation and two of these had severe burns
