1. Obsessive-compulsive disorder reinforcement during the COVID-19 pandemic
Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic is unquestionably impacting on the mental health of the population worldwide. Fear of contamination can both increase levels of stress in healthy individuals and intensify psychiatric symptoms in patients with pre-existing conditions, especially obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). During the COVID-19 pandemic, the imminent ris

4. ON THE PRACTICAL IRRATIONAL OF IMMORALITY
Abstract I argue that the Formula of Humanity, the principle that we should always treat the humanity of a person as an end in itself and never as a mere means, is a principle of pure practical reason. Insofar as that principle is also the fundamental grounds of morality, it follows, then, that all autonomous rational agents are committed to morality.

5. MENTAL PAINKILLERS AND REASONS FOR PAIN
Abstract What does bodily pain have in common with mental pain? According to “evaluativism,” both are representations of something bad. This paper puts forward three claims. First, that evaluativism vis-à-vis bodily pain is false for it renders it irrational to take painkillers. Second, that evaluativism vis-à-vis mental pain is true. Third, that this

6. Assertion and Its Many Norms
ABSTRACT Timothy Williamson offers the ordinary practice, the lottery and the Moorean argument for the ‘knowledge account’ that assertion is the only speech-act that is governed by the single rule that one must know its content. I show that these fail to support it and that the emptiness of the knowledge account renders mysterious why breaking the knowle

7. Survey of traditional beliefs in the Hungarian Csángó and Székely ethnomedicine in Transylvania, Romania
Transylvania, part of Romania, has a long-standing culture of Hungarian ethnomedicinal practices. The aim of this study was to review the unexplored ethnopharmacological use of plants, animals and other materials, focusing mainly on the beliefs surrounding them; and compare them with traditional uses from other countries and with scientific literature. 8.

10. A construção da síndrome pré-menstrual / The social construction of premenstraul syndrome
This research aims at putting in doubt the premenstrual syndrome (PMS) problem as an ahistorical biomedical entity made evident from the fulfilling of diagnostic criteria. The starting point is the hypothesis that the biomedical model for the explanation of PMS incorporates and reproduces the existing social patterns that insist in stereotypical views of gen

11. Between the sensible and the intelligible: Anthropology and the cinema of Marcel Mauss and Jean Rouch
In this paper I explore the connections between the anthropology of Marcel Mauss and the anthropological cinema of Jean Rouch. In the process, I identify elements in the work of the filmmaker and anthropologist that amount to a critique of any simplistic opposition between prose and poetry, science and art, rational and irrational, material and immaterial, t

12. Democracia e eficiência: a difícil relação entre política e economia no debate contemporâneo
Democracy and efficiency: hard relations between politics and economy. Many economists see politics as an irrational activity. They also think state action usually generates market inefficiencies and democratic institutions, such as elections, often work as obstacles to sound economic measures. Showing that vision has been embedded into the main currents of
