1. ASIA case after injection of liquid silicone,

2. Fast Triacylglycerol Screening and Semi-Quantitative Analysis of Fatty Acids in Commercial Oils by DIMS with 18-Crown-6 Ether/Trifluoracetic Acid Dopants
Vegetable oil analyses, especially due to the complexity of the oil components, are commonly laborious, requiring several analytical techniques. In this work, electrospray ionization mass spectrometry with direct injection (DIMS), along with 18-crown-6 ether (crown ether) chelating agent and trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), was used to characterize and semi-quant

3. Intravitreal injection of the synthetic peptide LyeTx I b, derived from a spider toxin, into the rabbit eye is safe and prevents neovascularization in a chorioallantoic membrane model
Abstract Background: The great diversity of molecules found in spider venoms include amino acids, polyamines, proteins and peptides, among others. Some of these compounds can interact with different neuronal receptors and ion channels including those present in the ocular system. To study potential toxicity and safety of intravitreal injection in rabbits of

4. ON-LINE SOLID PHASE EXTRACTION COUPLED WITH LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY TANDEM MASS SPECTROMETRY FOR THE DETERMINATION OF CODEINE IN HUMAN PLASMA
A specific LC-MS/MS method was developed and validated for automated determination of codeine in human plasma, using on-line solid phase extraction (SPE) system coupled with positive ion electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. The method allowed plasma direct injection onto cartridge without sample pre-treatment. Total analysis time per run was 3 m

5. A Systematic Procedure to Develop a Capillary Electrophoresis Method Using a Minimal Experimental Data
The choice of an appropriate background electrolyte (BGE) and its components for capillary electrophoresis analysis is the main step in capillary electrophoresis method development. The use of an inadequate co-ion component could lead to asymmetrical peaks and selecting an inappropriate counter-ion could affect the buffer capacity and the pH of the BGE, lead

6. Acetaminophen Prodrug: Microwave-Assisted Synthesis and in vitro Metabolism Evaluation by Mass Spectrometry
Propacetamol is an acetaminophen prodrug of intravenous administration used to control fever and pain of perioperative period in multimodal analgesia therapy. After injection, it is completely converted by plasma esterases into N,N-diethylglycine and acetaminophen, its active metabolite whose mechanism of action is the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.

8. Pharmacological characterization of venoms from three theraphosid spiders: Poecilotheria regalis, Ceratogyrus darlingi and Brachypelma epicureanum
Abstract Background Tarantulas (Theraphosidae) represent an important source of novel biologically active compounds that target a variety of ion channels and cell receptors in both insects and mammals. In this study, we evaluate and compare the pharmacological activity of venoms from three taxonomically different theraphos

10. In vivo evaluation of homeostatic effects of Echis carinatus snake venom in Iran
Background The venom of the family Viperidae, including the saw-scaled viper, is rich in serine proteinases and metalloproteinases, which affect the nervous system, complementary system, blood coagulation, platelet aggregation and blood pressure. One of the most prominent effects of the snake venom of Echis carinatus (Ec) is its coagulation activity, used f

11. Determinação de parâmetros cinéticos em fluxo com câmara de gradiente e deteção espectrofotométrica: aplicação à reação entre o violeta de cristal e o ião hidróxido
A didactic experiment is proposed aimed to extend the Flow Injection Analysis (FIA) based methodology to the area of physical chemistry/chemical reactors for undergraduate labs. Our prime objective was to describe the use of a gradient chamber for determination of the rate constant for the reaction between crystal violet and the hydroxide ion. The study was

12. Anticonvulsant and antiarrhythmic effects of nifedipine in rats prone to audiogenic seizures
Calcium ion participates in the regulation of neural transmission and the presynaptic release of neurotransmitters. It is also involved in epileptic events, cardiac arrhythmias and abnormal conduction of stimuli. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of nifedipine, a calcium channel blocker, on epileptic seizures and on reperfusion arr
