1. Effect of air blast sprayer application speed on the dye retention of coffee leaves
ABSTRACT Improving the effectiveness of pesticide application for controlling insects, mites, and pathogens in coffee cultivation has been a major challenge for coffee farmers, researchers, and consultants. The present study aimed to assess the deposition and distribution of a brilliant blue tracer in the coffee canopy using Jacto’s Arbus 2000 Super Export

2. Effectiveness of the Mobile Emergency Medical Services (SAMU): use of interrupted time series
A pesq

3. Topography of 11C-Pittsburgh compound B uptake in Alzheimer’s disease: a voxel-based investigation of cortical and white matter regions
Objective: To compare results of positron emission tomography (PET) with carbon-11-labeled Pittsburgh compound B (11C-PIB) obtained with cerebellar or global brain uptake for voxel intensity normalization, describe the cortical sites with highest tracer uptake in subjects with mild Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and explore possible group differences in 11C-PI

5. Clinical and functional assessment of swallowing of older patients with or without complaints of dysphagia admitted to a care geriatric ward / "Avaliação estrutural e funcional da deglutição de idosos, com e sem queixas de disfagia, internados em uma enfermaria geriátrica"
Physiological mechanisms change during the aging process. Among the changes that occur naturally during this process, there are the problems of swallowing. Swallowing integrity not only warrants the maintenance of the patients nutritional status, but also protects the respiratory system against accidents like the aspiration of oropharyngeal contents. On th

6. Direct real-time observation of actin filament branching mediated by Arp2/3 complex using total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy
Existing methods for studying actin filament dynamics have allowed analysis only of bulk samples or individual filaments after treatment with the drug phalloidin, which perturbs filament dynamics. Total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy with rhodamine-labeled actin allowed us to observe polymerization in real time, without phalloidin. Direct m

7. Determination of Betaines by Fast Atom Bombardment Mass Spectrometry 1: Identification of Glycine Betaine Deficient Genotypes of Zea mays
A rapid, sensitive, and selective method for the determination of betaines is described and discussed. The method entails derivatizing the quaternary ammonium compounds to increase their sensitivity to detection by fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry. Sensitivity of detection increases markedly as the length of the carbon chain of the alcohol used to est

8. Endocytosis in the retinal and choroidal microcirculation.
The endocytosis of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) by the vascular cells of retinal and choroidal blood vessels was compared in immersion and perfusion fixed eyes from individual rats. The mechanisms of endocytosis of HRP appeared identical in both retinal and choroidal vessels. The bulk of internalised tracer occurred in macropinosomes 300-400 nm in diameter.

9. The effects of magnesium on potassium transport in ferret red cells.
1. The magnesium dependence of net and isotopic (using 86Rb as tracer) potassium transport was measured in fed ferret red cells. Bumetanide (0.1 mM) was used to dissect total flux into two components: bumetanide sensitive and bumetanide resistant. 2. Increasing the external magnesium concentration from zero (added) to 2 mM stimulated bumetanide-sensitive upt

10. Attomole level protein sequencing by Edman degradation coupled with accelerator mass spectrometry
Edman degradation remains the primary method for determining the sequence of proteins. In this study, accelerator mass spectrometry was used to determine the N-terminal sequence of glutathione S-transferase at the attomole level with zeptomole precision using a tracer of 14C. The transgenic transferase was labeled by growing transformed Escherichia coli

11. Parasitophorous vacuoles of Leishmania amazonensis-infected macrophages maintain an acidic pH.
Leishmania amastigotes are intracellular protozoan parasites of mononuclear phagocytes which reside within parasitophorous vacuoles of phagolysosomal origin. The pH of these compartments was studied with the aim of elucidating strategies used by these microorganisms to evade the microbicidal mechanisms of their host cells. For this purpose, rat bone marrow-d

12. ABA activates multiple Ca2+ fluxes in stomatal guard cells, triggering vacuolar K+(Rb+) release
The mechanisms by which abscisic acid (ABA) activates the release of K+(Rb+) from the vacuole of stomatal guard cells, a process essential for ABA-induced stomatal closure, have been investigated by tracer flux measurements. The form and timing of the ABA-induced efflux transient could be manipulated by treatments that alter three potential Ca2+ fluxes
