1. New Proposal to Calculate the Friction in Sheet Metal Forming Through Bending Under Tension Test
There are 6 different types of equations that have been formulated to measure friction through the bending under tension test, however, there is no work to show whether these calculations actually represent what is happening in a sheet metal stamping process. This paper aims to make a direct comparison between the bending under tension test and the sheet met

2. STUDY OF PARAMETERS AFFECTING THE COALESCENCE OF DIMETHYL DISULFIDE DROPS IN A MEROX UNIT
Abstract This study focuses on the coalescence of dimethyl disulfide drops with the mother phase at a flat aqueous-organic interface between dimethyl disulfide and different sodium hydroxide solutions. Drop coalescence is an important part of the Merox process for regenerating the solvent. A digital high-frame rate camera was used for recording drops coalesc

3. Biodiesel Synthesis: Influence of Alkaline Catalysts in Methanol-Oil Dispersion
Biodiesel synthesis from soybean oil using methanol and alkaline catalysts occurs in the following two consecutive steps: dispersion of methanol in the oil and methanolysis. The effect of the alkaline catalysts NaOCH3, KOCH3, NaOH, and KOH in the dispersion step at 30-60 ºC and under mechanical stirring at 400 rpm was evaluated. The dispersion step accounts

4. Sericin as compatibilizer in starch/ polyester blown films
Abstract This study investigated the effects of low concentrations of sericin (≤ 1.5 wt%) in starch- poly(butylene-adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) films. The films were produced by blown extrusion and mechanical, barrier and structural properties were determined. Films containing 1.0 and 1.5 wt% sericin showed higher tensile strength (6.41 and 6.59 MPa)

5. Finite element simulation of fracture in a restored premolar tooth using high aspect ratio elements
Abstract Introduction The term cracked tooth syndrome refers to an incomplete fracture of a vital posterior tooth that involves the dentin and occasionally extends into the pulp. There is a very limited number of publications trying to model dentin crack growth using numerical techniques. Therefore, it is essential to numerically model this phenomenon in o

6. Yield Surfaces of Material Composed of Porous and Heterogeneous Microstructures Considering Phase Debonding
Abstract This work deals with numerical simulation of the mechanical behavior of materials composed of heterogeneous ductile microstructures using a multi-scale approach considering plasticity processes and phase debonding. Due to few studies about yield surfaces of metal matrix composites (MMC) with weak interfaces presented in the literature, the major goa

7. INIBIÇÃO À CORROSÃO DE AÇO-CARBONO EM MEIO SALINO PELO HETEROCICLO ISATINA VEICULADO EM MICROEMULSÕES
Polar microemulsion systems (SME) based on saponified coconut oil (OCS) as surfactant were prepared in order to increase the solubility of the heterocycle isatin (IST) aiming at its application as corrosion inhibitor against AISI 1020 mild steel, in saline medium. The adsorptions phenomena of the tested SME systems (SME-OCS1-IST and SME-OCS2-IST) in the liqu

8. AVALIAÇÃO DO POTENCIAL USO DE BIOGLICERINA COMO BASE PARA FORMULAÇÃO DE FLUIDOS DE PERFURAÇÃO AQUOSOS PARA POÇOS DE PETRÓLEO E GÁS
The growing global concern about the environment associated with academic and government efforts are enabling a number of alternatives for sustainable development. Within this perspective one can include the search for value-added products using waste from renewable energy sources, such as those from the production of biodiesel. The rapid development of biod

9. Static Limit Analysis of Reinforced Soil Structures by a Simple Finite Element and Second-Order Cone Programming
Abstract To discretize reinforced soil structures in plane strain and predict their collapse load, a simple three-node triangular finite element is formulated based on the static theorem of the limit analysis. The element satisfies the equilibrium equations and the mechanical boundary conditions in a weak sense. A modified Mohr-Coulomb yield surface is adopt

10. Effect of Post Weld Heat Treatment Process on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Friction Welded Dissimilar Drill Pipe
In this study, N80-42CrMo4 dissimilar drill pipes were welded by a roto-friction welding machine. A set of welded samples were tested as-welded condition. Another set of welded samples were post weld heat treated (stress relief annealing) at the temperature of 600 °C, for 20 min. and then tested. The microstructures of the as-welded and stress relief anneal

11. Adsorption Mechanism of Lignosulfonate at the Air/Liquid Interface
Lignosulfonate is a type of natural polymer surfactant. Its capability to reduce the surface tension of aqueous solution depends on its adsorption configuration at the air/liquid interface. The dynamic surface tension, the air/liquid interfacial film properties of lignosulfonate at different solution concentrations, pH values and ionic strengths had been mea

12. Failure behavior modeling of slender reinforced concrete columns subjected to eccentric load
AbstractThis work presents a numerical model to simulate the failure behavior of slender reinforced concrete columns subjected to eccentric compression loads. Due to the significant influence of the lateral displacements on the loading state provided by an eccentric load, geometric nonlinearity is considered. The responses of the concrete in tension and comp
