2. SES : sistema de extração semântica de informações / System of semantic extraction of information

4. Mapeamento de dados multi-dimensionais - integrando mineração e visualização / Multidimensional data mapping - integrating mining and visualization
Projection or point placement techniques, useful for mapping multidimensional data into visual spaces, have always risen interest in the visualization and data analysis communities because they can support data exploration based on similarity or correlation relations. Regardless of that interest, various problems arise when dealing with such techniques, impa

5. Regime de distúrbio e dinâmica da regeneração natural na Floresta Pluvial Atlântica Submontana / Disturbance regime and natural regeneration dynamics in the Lower Montane Atlantic Rain Forest
In a 10.24 ha permanent plot of Tropical Lower Montane Atlantic Rain Forest in the Carlos Botelho State Park (Sete Barras, SP, Brazil), this study aimed to describe the canopy disturbance regime and to assess natural regeneration under different light regimes. In order to do so, the plot was completely surveyed for canopy gaps that were measured and had thei

6. Estratégias baseadas em exemplos para extração de dados semi-estruturados da web
In this work we propose, implement and evaluate strategies and techniques for the problem of extracting semistructured data fromWeb data sources within the context of an approach we call DEByE (Data Extraction By Example). The results we have reached have been used in the implementation of a data extraction tool, also called DEByE, and have their effectivene

7. Evaluation of DNA Extraction and PCR Methods for Detection of Enterocytozoon bienuesi in Stool Specimens
An evaluation of the sensitivities of three DNA extraction methods, i.e., FTA filter paper, a QIAamp stool mini kit, and a conventional phenol-chloroform method, by using specimens with known concentrations of Enterocytozoon bieneusi spores was performed. FTA filter paper and the QIAamp stool mini kit were the most sensitive methods, which could detect E. bi

8. Cost effectiveness of prophylaxis in dental practice to prevent infective endocarditis.
BACKGROUND--Although antimicrobial prophylaxis for infective endocarditis (IE) is common practice for many dental procedures, there is little information on whether it represents value for money. A study was performed to evaluate the effectiveness of prophylaxis for all at risk patients in routine dental practice with published data from the United Kingdom.

10. Sinorhizobium fredii and Sinorhizobium meliloti Produce Structurally Conserved Lipopolysaccharides and Strain-Specific K Antigens
Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) and capsular polysaccharides (K antigens) may influence the interaction of rhizobia with their specific hosts; therefore, we conducted a comparative analysis of Sinorhizobium fredii and Sinorhizobium meliloti, which are genetically related, yet symbiotically distinct, nitrogen-fixing microsymbionts of legumes. We found that both spe

12. Proteins Specified by Herpes Simplex Virus V. Purification and Structural Proteins of the Herpesvirion
We are reporting a procedure for the purification of herpes simplex enveloped nucleocapsids (virions), an evaluation of the purification procedure and the results of analyses of the virion proteins by high-resolution acrylamide gel electrophoresis. The data may be summarized as follows. (i) The procedure for the purification of virions consists of careful ex
